Mladějov to Host Vivid Combat Commemorations Honoring World War Fallen

Mladějov-Blosdorf is a well-established event honoring those who lost their lives in World War II. This occasion features, among other activities, a reenactment of a battle between the armies of Austria and Russia to showcase the brutality of warfare. It presents a detailed recreation of the conflict that took place on the Eastern Front during the First World War in the Carpathian Mountain region.

Visitors will find that Mladějov offers a full-day program packed with various activities, including Scenarios from the Old Empire, traditional music from that era, and a display of historical military gear. At 11:00 a.m., a solemn ceremony will take place, featuring historical groups, at the Monument to the Victims of the First World War located in Mladějov. Then, at 15:00, the battle reenactment will commence. Because of the loud noises during the battle re-enactment, this event is not suitable for dogs.

The military-historical section of Mladějov-Blosdorf 1915 is organized by the Renata Society, which will be collecting entrance fees for the full-day program in Mladějov (adults 180 CZK, children 70 CZK).

Travel to the battle via steam train

Please note that the fare for the excursion trains is separate from the entrance fee (and vice versa). It’s best for those wanting a ride on the narrow gauge railway to arrive early in the morning. Tickets for the trains in the afternoon, prior to the battle, often sell out quickly every year (these can be booked online). Steam-powered trains will depart from Mladějov at 9:00, 11:00, 13:10, and 16:15.

Guided tours at the Mladějov Industrial Museum, showcasing exhibitions of motorcycles, tractors, strollers, cameras, and more, will start at 11:00 and 13:10. Tickets for these tours can be purchased at the ticket office located at the narrow-gauge railway station.
