This vibrant summer cultural event in Olomouc, the Haná metropolis, has become synonymous with the Tramtarie Theatre and its beloved festival called Olomouc not only Shakespearean summer. Every year, during the first half of August, this festival takes over the enchanting areas of the Jesuit Convent park. This year, the Olomouc “Shakespeare” festival will feature fourteen performances. Expect to see classic comedies that audiences adore, such as Horrors from the Marital Bedrooms and Mothers on the Trip, alongside some exciting new additions to Tramtarie’s lineup. The festival will kick off with two performances of their latest comedy, called The Kings of Dubbing. This quirky comedy set in a struggling dubbing studio is certain to be one of the standout moments of the event. Another fresh performance will be a cheeky romantic comedy titled Don Juan in New York, which has received great reviews from both critics and the public.
The Rose Wars and Cabaret Naked Shakespeare Premiere
The Big Theatre Evening is scheduled for Wednesday, August 13, and during this evening, the premiere of the iconic comedy The War of the Roses will be presented. This theatrical version of the most memorable and humorous divorce film ever, featuring Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas, will be staged in Olomouc by the talented Barbara Šebestíková and Jan Ťoupalík. Over the past ten years, the festival has showcased the legendary Naked Shakespeare Cabaret, and this year is no exception. This production, which has become Tramtarie’s most successful show ever, will not disappoint as it allows for new, memorable experiences with its improvised scenes, making it a must-see at the festival. The organizers also take care of the younger audience, providing three performances specifically for kids, accompanied by a delightful children’s program.
Tramtarie Theatre is renowned for fostering a strong connection between its performers and the audience. To enhance this connection, this year they have arranged a special accompanying program, which will start just a few minutes after each performance.
