KnightsOn Saturday, August 9, there will be lively Medieval festivities at Choustník Castle. Join us to experience the atmosphere of bygone eras at the historic Choustník Castle, where you can step through the castle gate and be transported back to the Gothic times. You can enjoy a Knights’ joust, meet a falconer and his birds, or listen to beautiful music from that period. Knights and swordsmen will display swords, armor, and firearms. You can even try your hand at fencing or using a crossbow, and at 21:00, a spectacular fire show will take place. Choustník Castle is located on a hill of the same name, about 20 km southeast of Tabor.

Battle of BudyněOn August 9, the Czech Central Highlands will witness an exciting clash between Swiss and Burgundian troops! The thrilling Battle of Budyně will unfold over both days at Budyně nad Ohří Castle. Expect a vibrant marketplace and a variety of accompanying activities, including tours of the Castle, a Camp, and the armories, along with tasty medieval cuisine, traditional dances, period music, and much more. Plus, you will enjoy two reenactments of the battle! Around 100 combatants from the Czech Republic and Germany will participate. Aside from food and shopping options, you can also attend informative craft demonstrations, where you’ll get explanations in both the campground and the armory.

FencersA week later, on Saturday, August 16, 2025, there will be a remembrance of the historic Knights Templar in the Vsetín area and their significant role in the town’s history. Although the Templars were present for a brief period, they greatly aided in the colonization of the Vsetín region and contributed to the city’s growth. The first written record of Vsetín dates back to a Templar charter from 1308. The area in front of Vsetín Castle will be transformed into a cozy medieval encampment featuring a period fair and performances by fencers, jugglers, and musicians. Demonstrations of medieval crafts and food will be available, along with activities for children such as knight training, horse riding, and archery.

During the weekend of August 22 and 23, the Scottish culture will come alive at the Sychrov State Castle, featuring all-day-long traditional Scottish games, which involve delightful elements like tartans, kilts, Scottish bagpipes, and whisky, all of which are vital parts of Scotland’s cultural history and among the largest Scottish games in Europe.
