Discover the Enchanting Děčín Castle and Its Hidden Gem

Děčín is located in a large basin on both sides of the Elbe River. On one side, there is a grand castle, while on the other, a rock formation known as Shepherd’s Wall houses a cruise restaurant. To the north of the town, the river descends into the enchanting scenery of the Elbe Sandstones, which also features several lookout towers, with Děčínský Sněžník being the most prominent.
For many centuries, the main landmark in Děčín has been the exhibition castle, perched on a rock above where the Elbe and Ploučnice rivers meet. Interestingly, the first hiking and walking paths were constructed around Děčín prior to 1822. Why not continue this tradition by walking to the local castle? You can opt for a steep hike on the Baroque Long Rides, take a winding path from Castle Street that meanders through part of the castle park, or enter from the chain gangway by the confluence of the Elbe and Ploučnice rivers. You can also choose the entrance at the castle granary on Nároží Street, which both offer access through the lovely South Gardens.
