Experience the Enchantment of Vimperk Castle

In 2015, the National Heritage Institute began managing the castle grounds, and since that time, there has been a steady process of gradual restoration.

Visitors can immerse themselves in the Renaissance era at Vimperk Castle because of a successful reconstruction effort. The Sightseeing routes showcase life in the castle during the 17th century, which is linked to the influential family Novohradsky of Kolovrat. When you visit the Upper Castle, you’ll discover features such as a beautifully restored vaulted ceiling from the early 17th century, impressive Renaissance paintings, and two restored chateau chapels. The modern exhibits at the Museums of Vimperk, located within the castle since the 1960s, highlight topics like printing, glassmaking, and the history of the Šumava region. Vimperk Castle welcomes visitors throughout the entire year.
