Explore Prague: A Literary Wonderland – Say Goodbye to Boredom on the Night of Literature!

Literature Night in Prague is an exciting event where you can enjoy public readings happening on 17 September 2025. Talented actors and actresses will read excerpts from 23 inspirational books by remarkable international authors.
At all the locations, the readings will occur at the same time, spaced 15 minutes apart. Reading times are set for 6:00pm, 6:30pm, 7:00pm, 7:30pm, 8:00pm, 8:30pm, 9:00pm, 9:30pm, 10:00pm, and 10:30pm. This means that within an hour, each excerpt will be read twice at each site, and audience members will rotate between readings. Attendees are free to choose which places and readings to visit based on a provided map. Entry into each venue is allowed only after the previous group has exited. The readings occur simultaneously, with each preview repeating every half hour, giving you the freedom to pick the order in which you experience each venue. Some locations will also have readings interpreted in Czech sign language.

There are various venues such as the Archbishop’s Palace, House of the Golden Star, Courtyards of the House of the Golden Plough, Fortna – I, Fortna – II, Host Restaurant, Hrzánský Palace, Černínský Palace – Kaňkův pavilion, Capuchin Monastery in Prague at Hradčany, Lobkowicz Palace, Malá Vikárka, Mladot House, Supreme Purkrabstvo, Religious House of the Exaltation of St. Cross – Park Lane International School, Schwarzenberg Palace – National Gallery, Aspironix, s.r.o, Šlik Palace – Orphenica Elementary School, Sternberg Palace – National Gallery, Tuscan Palace, At the Suspended Coffee – Theater Continues, Embassy of Sweden – Villa Na krásné vyhlídce, and St. John of Nepomuk Military Church. Prague City of Literature is a project designed to not only promote the idea of Prague as a city with a rich literary heritage, but also to increase awareness about the vibrant literary scene in Prague – including cafes, bookstores, libraries, authors, books, fairs, and festivals. In short, it’s a reminder for both residents and visitors that Prague is a lively place full of inspiration, a city where literature thrives and is shared. Various activities like public readings, literary tours, and books linked to sculptures are being organized as part of this initiative.
