Úštěk Fair: Discover Crafts and Historical Wonders

Úštěk FairOn Saturday, August 16, 2025, you can visit the Úštěk Historical Fair. Here, you will find artisans, period vendors, and performers dressed in beautiful historical costumes. The event will highlight an exciting finale with a fireworks display by the magician Rye.

This year, the heart of Úštěk will be transformed into a vibrant marketplace filled not only with stalls but also with craftsmen from Bohemia, Moravia, and Slovakia. The marketplace will welcome visitors starting at 8 am. The entire town will be buzzing with activity, featuring a historical carousel for kids, pony rides, craft workshops, animals in front of the church, a world of dragons, a water-themed area, and a historical shooting range. You will encounter flute and accordion players on the street, and at Barvíř pond, you can enjoy a showcase of domestic animals. The House of Culture will host a puppet stage. At 10:00, Eva Pear, Jan Přeučil, and Zdeněk Rohlíček’s theatre will perform the fairy tale The Devil and Káča, followed by Sleeping Beauty at 12:00. Later, Aunt Pearl’s Theatre will present The Terrible Dushanka at 16:00.

Saturday will also feature a special highlight of Knights—including a medieval knights’ camp, baths, and weapon demonstrations. The festivities will officially begin at 9 a.m. with an appearance by the juggler Vlček, followed by medieval music from the group Řemdih. At 11 am, be ready for the grand arrival of Emperor Charles IV., along with a parade of his courtiers and performers, led by drummers into the square. Noble court dances will greet the Emperor upon his arrival. This festive parade will take place again later, at 3 p.m..

In addition, attendees can enjoy street theatre on stilts, performances by flag bearers accompanied by drummers, and duels held in honor of the Emperor, as well as fun mouse races!

The evening program will kick off at 20:20, featuring Emperor Charles IV himself, along with musicians and dancers. Duels performed by the town guard in armor, and an exciting fire show will also be part of the evening festivities. The celebrations will conclude at 22:00 with a spectacular fireworks display by the magician Zito.

Additionally, various monuments and museums will be open for exploration. You can visit the Devil’s Museum, the Devil’s Cellar, the Church of St. Peter and Paul, the Úštěk Gallery, and the synagogue.
