Discover the Central Bohemian Neveklov Region: Your Gateway to Excitement

The small town of Neveklov is situated surrounded by the Slapy water reservoir, the Sázava River, and the towns of Benešov, Votice, and Sedlčany. This area is characterized by forests, meadows, sunny hills, and small attractions and lookout towers. Cyclists who enjoy challenging terrains will find plenty to explore here; biking here can feel like riding a camel over hills.
For those who love to swim, the Slap Dam is a popular spot. While it can get crowded, we can suggest places where you can enjoy a nice swim with fewer people. One great option is the swimming area at Hotel Laguna. This location is nicely secluded from the city, likely providing the best last semi-wild swim experience at Slapy. Entry and parking are free, there’s a summer stand for snacks, and the water is quite nice. At the hotel, you’ll discover a grassy beach, and just a bit further away is a sandy beach with pebbles. The bottom is rocky, so we suggest wearing water shoes.
Another option for swimming is the beach at the campsite Nová Rabyně (fees apply) or at Měříně (paid parking). You can also find a small swimming area at the cottage settlement Kobylníky, which has no beach—just large rocks. This spot is freely accessible. Be sure to explore the lovely biotope in Votice when you visit.
If you enjoy scenic views, make sure to hike up to one of the lookout towers in the area. You can climb Neštětická hora, Drahoušek, Drtinova rozhledna, Veselý Vrch, and there are viewpoints along the Vltava River, including Abbot Zavoral’s viewpoint, Albert’s viewpoint, Šemíkův skok, and the stunning Na Vrchovnici viewpoint – all are very appealing;
Forgotten castles and lesser-known natural attractions
Among the attractions worth checking out are often hidden castles such as Vrchotovy Janovice, Lešany, Radíč (which currently offers accommodation) or Osečany (which is occasionally open to visitors). Many of these castles are only remnants of walls. A fairly well-known ruin is the castle Ostromeč located above the Vltava River, and if you venture behind Týnec nad Sázavou, you can find Zbořený Kostelec. There’s a preserved Gothic fortress Mrač, while the remains of the walls and some irregular terrain can be seen at the site of Kožlí Castle.
Additionally, various natural attractions are also enjoyable to explore, such as the Judgement Stone near Sedlčany, Bílá Skála near Nalžovice, and the nature park in Central Bohemia. You can also take a peaceful stroll in the park surrounding the Konopiště Chateau or at Vrchotovy Janovice.
