Nový Jičín Celebrates Its Vibrant History at This Year’s Festivities

Exhibition on the square takes you back in time
On Friday, September 5, and Saturday, September 6, in 2025, the 29th edition of the festival will be happening in Nový Jičín as part of the Town Festival, celebrating the 30th anniversary of this beloved event. An exhibition will take place in the square showcasing the history of all previous festival editions, with posters, photographs, and real backdrops on display.
As part of the festivities, there will be a commemoration for General Laudon, who passed away in Nový Jičín in 1790. He used to be a significant part of the celebrations and will be featured in the program again. Along with his military retinue, he brings us back to the days of the Austrian monarchy. Festivities will also feature medieval encampments and sword fighters presenting duels, as well as crafts and fun games for children.
Theatre Street as a celebration of the visual arts
The celebration will again take place on Divadelní Street, featuring a program that focuses on the visual arts to honor Nový Jičín’s artist Eduard Veith. This year marks 100 years since his death. He was a well-known painter and decorator from the late 19th to early 20th century. While on Divadelní Street, you can witness live painting on canvas, body painting, cartoonists, and much more. Local school children will showcase their talents here, and concerts will be a part of the excitement.
A festive parade with allegorical floats will be featured, including guests from sister cities. This parade will start at 15:00 on Divadelní Street and will go through ul. Lidická and Úzká, passing the cinema before reaching the square. After the parade is finished, the allegorical floats will remain on display on 5 May Street (near Pizzeria Nano). The musical lineup will feature popular names, including Olympic, Vesna, Pam Rabbit, Xindl X, and Dara Rolins. On Saturday morning, Bibi Bum will entertain the youngest festival attendees.
