This Saturday in Brno: Get Ready for Chillibraní
In the Brno cycling area Velodrome in Pisárky district, on Saturday 6 September 2025, fans of chili peppers, including growers and consumers, will come together for Europe’s biggest chili festival, known as Chilliparty. This year’s festival celebrating spicy food will be entertaining for everyone! Chili growers and food lovers from various regions will join in, and the event will feature tastings of diverse delicious dishes.
The velodrome will be packed with food booths where you can enjoy savory items, sweet treats, burgers, steaks, and all kinds of specialties. You can also find various supplies needed for growing chili. Moreover, a wide selection of beers from local craft breweries will be available. For those who aren’t fans of spicy beer, there will be plenty of other drinks to enjoy at the stalls. At least one spicy and one mild dish will always be present. This event will not only entice chili enthusiasts but also anyone who enjoys cooking, trying out new recipes, and finding inspiration from top chefs.
One of the highlights of the event will occur at 6:00 p.m., featuring the Czech and Slovak Republic Championship in Spicy Eating – Chilližrout 2025. Forty of the most daring individuals will take their places at the competition table and consume sauces and chili peppers, starting with one that is about five times hotter than Tabasco, all the way to the spiciest until only one contestant is left standing. There is a time limit for eating each round, and each participant can choose how many rounds they want to attempt. Competitors traditionally include both men and women. If someone can no longer continue, they are out of the game, so this competition follows a “last standing” format.
The festival is organized by a community of dedicated growers, amateur chefs, and enthusiastic chili fans—not a professional organization out to make a profit. Their goal is to show everyone that the essence of chili lies in its flavor and that its heat goes beyond the typical supermarket varieties. They also aim to clear up misconceptions that often surround chili.
