Experience the Traditional Bread Festival in Slupi

Slup Bread FestivalJoin us in Slup near Znojmo on Saturday, September 6 to enjoy the Bread Festival. Get excited for freshly baked bread, an exhibition showcasing agricultural equipment, a craft fair, and performances by folklore groups from the South Moravia region and also by national minorities living in South Moravian Region. As part of the tradition, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the entire mill for a single discounted admission fee of 40 CZK. The mill will be accessible from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

The mill will be open all day for you to watch experimental bread baking using a military field bakery, where you can even taste or buy some of the bread. The fair, starting at 9:00 AM, will feature historical crafts. In addition, there will be other stalls selling food, bourbon, and fresh pastries available. The Water Mill in Slupi will remain operational until evening. Moreover, there will be a significant display of historical tractors, which will take rides around the festival grounds throughout the Bread Festival. Admission to the event costs 150 CZK for adults, while senior pass holders just pay 100 CZK.

Getting to Slupi or the dugout in Šatov by historic bus

ŠatovYou can use historic buses from the Technical Museum in Brno for free transport to Slupi. These buses will leave from Znojmo at the public transport station near the railway station, making stops at the bus stops in the neighboring villages. The buses will run on special schedules and will only stop at designated points when prompted. During these demonstration rides, you can also visit the Czechoslovak Fortification Area in Šatov, which includes an infantry cabin MJ – S3 “Garden”. In the village center, visitors will find a military camp set up by the Military History Club, celebrating the centenary of the founding of the Czechoslovak state.
