Beroun’s Autumn Pottery Market: A Vibrant Celebration of Ceramics and Fun

The Beroun markets take place multiple times a year, but this year, there will only be an autumn edition on the weekend 13th and 14th September 2025. The popular Pottery and craft markets will celebrate the rich history of Beroun pottery. Hus Square and the nearby Kolářská alley will once again become a showcase for skilled ceramists and potters. They will display a diverse array of unique handmade items. You can expect various types of applied ceramics, stoneware, and porcelain. These will include essential items such as tea and coffee mugs, tea sets, bowls in different shapes and sizes, plates, jugs, vases, as well as other interesting practical and decorative pieces. What will the autumn markets in Beroun provide this year?
There will also be sought-after porcelain jewellery and charming decorative ceramics. If you have a balcony or garden and are looking for larger pots, ceramic bird feeders, or fountains—essentially garden ceramics—there will be functional pieces and also sculptures and statues. You will find these larger items in the grassy area of Hus Square, where this year’s competition for Garden ceramics will be held.
Once again, we will delight all pottery enthusiasts with items fired in a wood-fired kiln, and since last year’s second firing was a great success, we will build a ceramic kiln in Hus Square on Friday, right in front of the audience. From Saturday to Sunday, we will be firing ceramics, and around 1 pm on Sunday, we will reveal the completed works. You can also purchase these unique pieces.
The markets in Beroun play a significant role in the celebrations of European Heritage Days. Alongside the fascinating monuments in Beroun that are usually only accessible to the public on this day, you’ll once more meet 30 foreign exhibitors from Europe. This year, a large group will be coming from Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, as well as Germany, Bulgaria, and, for the first time, from Slovenia.
Don’t miss ceramics from Slovenia
Bahor Jana and Igor will present used ceramics, particularly plates, bowls, and cups adorned with distinctive designs of melons or citrus fruits that will surely freshen up your kitchen. The Bahor brand is run by Jana, a fashion designer, along with Igor, who is a potter, and his creative team.
Foreign exhibitors from all over Europe
From Poland, Marciniak Lilianna from Studi Cedrowy will showcase ceramics for the first time this year—small studio products made from Lower Silesian clay, covered with quality colored glazes and fired at a high temperature of 1240 degrees Celsius. You can also expect to see Thomas Thuning from Germany, and Tóth Zoltán János from Hungary will be returning with his beautiful flower designs, having first introduced them at the Beroun markets years ago, where they continue to hold a special place in the hearts of many.
This year’s newcomers from Bohemia
- Young creator Pikrtová Veronika is eager for your support—she began exploring ceramics more deeply while studying in London.
- Hřivnáčová Petra is a unique artist, ceramist, painter, and skilled draughtswoman who expertly employs various techniques, infusing her love for the world and nature into her creations.
- Součková Dagmar – Dalu studio creates hand-shaped mugs filled with character. The spirit of the mug may not be seen, but it can be felt every time we take a moment to appreciate what we are holding. Each mug is one of a kind in shape, color, and design, and carries a unique experience.
Music and gastronomy are traditional highlights of the Beroun markets
The pottery markets in Beroun wouldn’t be complete without lively music and delicious food and beverages. Throughout the markets, several musical groups will be performing. On Saturday, the traditional country band Třehusk will entertain, playing well-known Prague and folk songs from the region around lower Berounka, Brda, and Karlštejn. The band Sally Gardens will follow, bringing you Irish, Scottish, and English songs as well as both familiar and forgotten ballads from the British Isles. Saturday night will conclude with a performance by Jangobells, who specialize in hot jazz from Paris. On Sunday, you can say farewell to the markets with BraAgas, mainly composed of female artists who will present folk music from across Europe.
They will also perform at J. Barrand Square, where the Beroun Municipal Cultural Centre has arranged a special program. Expect Baroque pantomimes in masks, court games, acrobatics, juggling acts, as well as Renaissance and Baroque music, and enchanting fairy tales for children. The finale will showcase Commedia dell’Arte performances from various groups including Teatro Comico, Collective Vagabundus, Divadlo Buřt, Ludus Musicus, Capella Regia Praha, and others.
