Valasské Meziříčí Shines Bright with the Světlo Valmez Festival

This year’s Svetlo Valmez, now in its 7th year, focuses on civilization and the future of humanity. This theme is expressed through beautiful light artworks and advanced audiovisual displays. Notable features include presentations by the Hungarian group Lightspray Visual, which merges visual artistry and the poetry of light. Polish artist Krzysztof Franaszek will showcase three large, location-specific pieces in urban settings. The Studio 5-MeO-TAR group has created the project Memory of Light, which will change the Žerotín Castle, the Chapel Gallery, and the Granary Gallery into vibrant canvases filled with dynamic light and color.
Czech artist Jakub Nepraš will demonstrate an audiovisual composition exploring human relationships with nature. Pavel Holeček will introduce a kinetic sound sculpture called Plantar Fascia, designed to inspire meditation, imagination, and a feeling of infinity through the interplay of light and shadow. Pavel Mrkus will explore the connection between space and the audience, while Slovak artist Marek Kvetan will present an installation that humorously critiques our connection with imagery and media. The festival will also showcase the work of Jiří Y. Suchánek, who integrates sound, light, and digital technologies into interactive experiences.
Besides artistic installations, attendees can enjoy a music program on the Schott Stage, featuring performances by Sofian Medjmedj, Katannah, Möm, Brothers, and Nfix & Candice. The Žerotín Castle will be highlighted through videomapping, and the bridge over the Bečva River will serve as an interactive Robe Stage. This afternoon, the festival will also launch the Mint Market, offering fashion, jewelry, and local treats.
The festival remains a traditional event that is entirely free and welcoming for people of all ages. The installations and concerts will animate the city center and the areas around the Bečva River, attracting thousands of visitors yearly.
