Discover Oskorušobraní: A Unique Autumn Celebration in Travičná
The Oscars Crane is an old, stunning, and large tree. It produces fruits that come in different colors and shapes, often looking like small pears or apples.
Oskerushas grow particularly well in Slovácko and other regions in southern Moravia, where they are locally called oscoruše. The Oscrocheria Festival of Tvarožná Lhota organizers have done a great job promoting these ancient trees.
The festival venue is also important. The Travičná farm is conveniently located near the Travičná lookout tower and the village of Tvarožná Lhota in the White Carpathians Protected Landscape Area. This location is best described as a lovingly restored Slovak shepherd’s hut from the 19th century, which also serves as an open-air educational museum. Its focus is on learning and recreational activities. The area includes historic rural buildings, a nature path, an arboretum, a sheepfold, a camping site, and various play facilities for kids.
Oskorušobraní at Salaš Travičná
Oskorušobraní takes place in the beautiful White Carpathians, right above Tvarožná Lhota below the Travičná lookout tower. This event showcases a restored 19th-century Slavic shepherd’s hut, tied to an educational open-air museum. On Saturday, September 20, 2025, you can explore the entire area and enjoy tasting pluots in various forms, whether they are burned, preserved, baked, or fresh right from the tree. You can also sample cocktails and liqueurs from the Oscherus brand, along with flavors from the international Ark of Taste Slow food, and witness the announcement of the Queen of the Oscars for that year.
The trip’s activities can be paired with a tour of the shepherd’s grounds, which includes fun interactive sculptures for children. This year, guests can also enjoy craft workshops, purchase items from a local fair, or participate in unique competitions featuring osconberries. The atmosphere is further enhanced by live music for listening and dancing, including folk, country, and dulcimer tunes.
There will also be opportunities to visit the orchard filled with hollies, get advice on tree care, check out sheep herding demonstrations, or enjoy a horse-riding experience.
