Pure Modernism at the Trade Fair Palace
If you love modern art, you should check out the National Gallery located at the large Trade Fair Palace in Prague 7. Here, you can explore seven floors filled with thousands of artworks from the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries, along with temporary exhibitions showcasing various modern movements and ideas. Some of the most famous artists featured include Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Auguste Renoir, Vincent van Gogh, and Gustav Klimt. Recent permanent exhibitions highlight themes such as 1956-1989: Architecture for All, featuring works by creators like Václav Aulický and Karel Prager. 20th Century Art in Kampa
You can explore a collection of Central European modern art at Museum Kampa, which includes key works by two significant figures of the 20th century, František Kupka and Otto Gutfreund. Centre soDOX Center for Contemporary Art is located in Prague-Holešovice, operating as an independent venue showcasing various international contemporary art, architecture, and design. The center features works from both Czech and international artists displayed within a multipurpose space of 6,000 m², which is among the most interesting architectural projects worldwide in recent years. An impressive feature is the Airship on the rooftop, which serves as a place for creativity and storytelling, hosting exhibitions, site-specific projects, and discussions with various Czech and international writers, poets, and artists, as well as family and educational workshops that foster empathy, creativity, and critical thinking.
Innovative Kunsthalle Prague
The Kunsthalle Prague was established in 2022 in Klárov, transforming the Zenger substation into an engaging art space. This center focuses on curating temporary exhibitions, conducting research in the field of modern and contemporary art, and adopting innovative approaches to exhibition strategies. The space prioritizes 20th and 21st century art while offering a strong dramaturgical and educational program that caters to both experts and newcomers alike. Kunsthalle Prague is a private non-profit initiative established by the Pudil Family Foundation. An essential goal is to link contemporary art with its recent history, placing it in an international context. The only permanent site-specific installation at Kunsthalle Prague is the unique Cabinet of Electrical Curiosities created by American artist Mark Dion.

The insurance company building on Pobřežní Street in Karlín also provides public spaces for visitors to enjoy. Here, you will find a café and a gallery showcasing pieces from the company’s art collection or hosting special thematic exhibitions. The Kooperativa Gallery is located on the third floor of the Main Point Karlin building at the company’s headquarters. During a weekday, you can relax with a cup of coffee and some treats at the café next to the gallery. The art collection comprises exceptional and striking pieces by Czech artists, spanning from the 18th century to the present day. The gallery is free to enter and is open from Tuesday to Sunday, so don’t miss your chance to take a look around.
Contemporary Art: Galerie Rudolfinum & Leica Gallery
Located at Alsova nábřeží is one of Prague’s most renowned Neo-Renaissance buildings, which is also the home of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, known as the Rudolfinum. The gallery here does not have its own collection; instead, it focuses on organizing exhibitions featuring contemporary art accompanied by an array of enriching programs. After your visit, you can take a moment to relax and reflect at the beautiful Café Rudolfinum.
The Leica Gallery, located on Školská Street in Prague 1, specializes in artistic photography. It showcases works from some of the world’s leading artists and prioritizes promoting contemporary Czech and Slovak photography both locally and internationally. This gallery also features a café and a bookstore dedicated to photographic publications from both domestic and global sources.
Winter season 2025/2026 in Prague full of unique exhibitions
The upcoming project Vltava Famous & Navigable celebrates the 150th anniversary of Smetana’s iconic composition, Vltava. This exhibition, planned for September 5, 2025, to January 4, 2026, will be held at the Riding Hall of Prague Castle and will showcase rare items connected to the Vltava River. Featured works from esteemed artists like Špála, Schiele, Havránek, and Schikaneder will be on display alongside significant artifacts, including a replica of Charles IV’s statue from the Old Town Bridge Tower. The exhibition revolves around three main themes: the river’s original name Wild Ahwa, its energy and flow, and the riverbed of the Vltava in its real, imaginative, and symbolic forms.
The National Gallery Prague will host a significant event from September 26, 2025, to February 22, 2026: the first retrospective exhibition of sculptor Aleš Veselý, titled Aleshville, showcasing the artist’s sculptures along with drawings, prints, and welded creations.
The National Museum unveils an incredible exhibition titled 100 Treasures, 100 Stories, open from September 12 to December 31, 2025. This exhibition will immerse visitors in the world of treasures from Chinese emperors, focusing on the Qing Dynasty, and will feature loans from the National Palace Museum in Taipei, including a rare jade cabbage, one of Taiwan’s most significant cultural artifacts.
Additionally, the National Museum will present a groundbreaking new exhibition, People and Their Ancestors. This display will guide visitors through millions of years of human evolution, highlighting the journey from ancient hominins to modern humans. Visitors will have a once-in-a-lifetime chance until October 23, 2025, to observe original fossils of iconic australopithecines, including Lucy and Selam, over three million years old, which are being exhibited in Europe for the very first time.
On Friday, November 21, 2025, the PVA Expo in Letňany will open the Titanic World Exhibition, which will run until May 22, 2026. Visitors can explore authentic parts of the famous steamship, see original artifacts, touch an iceberg, and even take photos on the ship’s bow just like Jack and Rose!
Crystal Garden in the Botanical Garden Prague will dazzle fans of art glass from November 28, 2025, to February 15, 2026, showcasing fantastical flowers, plants, and creatures crafted by artist Jiří Pačinek and his talented team.
