Discover a Sea of Model Cars in Pečky This Weekend

There are only a few locations in our country where you can truly experience the fascinating combination of real and model railways. One of these exceptional places is the town of Pečky. If you’re coming from afar or aren’t familiar with where this town is, let us clarify that Pečky is situated along the train route from Prague to Kolín. Here in Pečky, local model enthusiasts have organized an exhibition featuring model cars, wagons, landscapes, and complete model railway systems. You can marvel at the tiny “T” scale trains, which travel on tracks that are just 3 mm wide and have a locomotive that measures about 5 cm in length. Additionally, you’ll find models in other scales, including Z, N, TT, and H0. There’s also a section with working models of “cogs”.

The tracks for the model trains often wind through beautiful landscapes featuring hills, tunnels, bridges, homes, and meadows filled with grass, vineyards, or thick forests. You will hear realistic sounds of passenger and freight trains being pulled by modern electric or diesel locomotives alongside nostalgic steam locomotive models. You’ll also get to see modern trains like the Pendolino and RailJet. To enhance the realism of the tracks, there are numerous figures of people and animals, as well as cars, trucks, tractors, and buses, either parked or driving around the residential areas.

You will have the opportunity to purchase model railways and their accessories if that interests you. A key feature of the exhibition is the refreshment stand called “Bearded Dispatcher”, which serves items like hot dogs, sausages, chips, beer, lemonade, coffee, tea, and even some spicy treats. The modelers’ club located on Žerotínov Street will be open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.. The entry price is 200 CZK for adults and 100 CZK for children.
