Hubert’s Ride and Castle Fairy Tales

hubert's ride skaliceSkalice Chateau, located near Vimperk, invites you to join on Saturday October 18, 2025, for Hubert’s Ride or Memorial of Mrs. Zdenka Voženílková Holoubková. The morning will feature hobby races for young and adult riders. Starting at 1:00 PM, there will be a community gathering in front of the castle, where, accompanied by trumpeters from the Forest Mountain and with the blessing of a local priest, the ceremonial entry of the riders will take place. Children can enjoy a fairy tale in the castle garden and even ride a horse. After the riders arrive at 3:00 PM, there will be a Fox hunt and the announcement of this year’s King of the Hunt.

During the weekend of October 8 to 11, you can meet trained birds of prey along with their handlers, known as falconers. Like every year, there will be a National Falconry Meeting that attracts international participants. This significant falconry event, organized by the Czech-Moravian Hunting Union Falconers Club, gathers falconers from around the globe and is recognized as one of the largest events of its kind. Attendees can witness demonstrations of raptor training along with various other falconry-related programs enjoyed by hundreds of viewers.

Hluboká Chateau welcomes visitors on October 4, 11, 18, and 25, 2025 for Curated Tours of the Guest Rooms. You can explore the distinctive rooms of Hluboká Castle with insights from the curator and co-author of this tour, Mrs. Maja Havlová. This extended curatorial tour will provide fascinating details not only about the notable guests of the Schwarzenberg family but also about the development of the building and the challenges faced during its restoration.

Did you know that Fairy Tales can be engaging and fun? You might think they’re typically enjoyed only on TV or in cinemas, but they can also come alive in a theater, or even better, in a castle! Come and experience a story titled The Princess and The Robber which will be performed at Sychrov Castle from October 4 to 5, 2025. Tours will be available at 10, 11, 1, 2, and 3 o’clock.

Autumn Delights at Castles and Chateaus

Chateau Velké Březno invites you on Saturday October 11 for an intriguing tour called The Count’s Banquet – A Neapolitan Feast. This historical journey will also include tastings of various delicious treats. The visit features a lecture that highlights the uniqueness and history of the delicacies from that time.

From October 18 to 19, 2025, Kozel Castle will host an autumn fair. Get ready for numerous stalls filled with delicious food and drinks, along with a variety of unique artisan products. You’ll find homemade cheeses, cold cuts, and both sweet and savory pastries. Kids will enjoy period attractions and creative workshops. The fair atmosphere will be enhanced by the sound of a historical flute. Admission to the fair is free.

Where to Go on a Public Holiday?

falconry hunts sovinecČeský Šternberk Castle is one of the oldest and most popular castles in Bohemia. It has stunning surroundings, situated on a cliff above the Sázava River, and is often referred to as the Pearl of Posázaví. The castle will be open on weekends including October 25 and 26, but also on October 18 and 19, offering a popular program called Wandering Through Šternberk History. This includes costumed guided tours that take you through different historical periods of Český Šternberk Castle, especially focusing on the last century.

Many castles and chateaus will celebrate the end of the season with delightful events during the last weekend of October. One such event is at Sovinec, where Falconry hunts will take place from October 25 to 28, 2025. You can look forward to demonstrations of prey dummy hunting, with opportunities for visitors to take photos with birds of prey, along with a rich accompanying program. There will also be an extensive fencing program.

Liechtenstein PalaceLoučeň Castle has planned special activities for children from October 25 to 29, 2025 during Chocolate Holidays. These will feature tours of the castle coupled with tastings of exquisite chocolates, including plantation chocolates from South America and Czech pralines from Litomyšl.

In Prague, on November 17, 2025, the representative areas of the Hrzánska Palace located on Loretánská Street will open to visitors. Guests will not only enjoy a guided tour of the beautiful interiors but also get to admire the stunning view from the terrace, a view once enjoyed by the most prominent resident of the palace – Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, who lived there from 1894 to 1896. The tours are conducted annually in organized groups, and each tour lasts around 40 minutes.
