This October: The Exciting Traditional Falconers’ Gathering

This year, the 58th National Meeting of Falconers is happening from October 8 to 11, 2025, in the courtyard of the State Chateau located in Opočno. Attendees can expect to see magnificent birds such as the golden eagle, peregrine falcon, great hornbill, Harris’s buzzard, and several hybrids. Every evening in the castle courtyard, there will be celebrations accompanied by the sounds of a hunting fanfare to honor the game that has been hunted. The event’s schedule includes exciting activities like the Championship of birds of prey in soaring flight and demonstrations on how to train these magnificent raptors at Vodětínský hill.

Falconry is fundamentally about a passion for nature and the experience of becoming one with the environment through the art of hunting with birds of prey. The guiding principle for falconers, expressed as “We hunt not for the prey, but for all the beauty of the hunt”, is more than just words but represents the genuine philosophy of every dedicated falconer.
