Jazz Goes to Town Festival in Hradec Králové Expands Horizons: Discover Diverse Genres Beyond Traditional Jazz!

This year’s festival Jazz Goes to Town/Jazz Goes to Town will showcase a diverse range of performances featuring modern Czech and international music that draws inspiration from jazz, highlighting the importance of original compositions and creativity. The events will feature genre-blending styles that provide fresh insights into 21st-century jazz and offer a broad spectrum of jazz expressions.
In 1995, the festival featured a concert by the renowned American group Art Ensemble of Chicago. This event was a major milestone in the cultural landscape of the Czech Republic. It was so controversial that a large portion of the audience decided to leave during the performance. It was largely due to the organizer’s bravery and commitment to host such concerts that the Czech audience and culture have evolved to a point where today’s reception of that concert would be much warmer.
A love for roots, open-minded ideas, meaningful dialogues, fresh inspirations, and a sense of hope and understanding. These themes typically guide the individual concert nights of the festival Jazz Goes to Town. Music has the ability to teach us how to welcome the new and the unpredictable, which is the central theme for the festival’s 31st edition. It encompasses numerous music projects spread over five festival days across various venues in Hradec Kralove. Jazz Goes to Town is an energetic, motivating, and exceptional event. Besides traditional jazz, the festival embraces additional genres and styles, offering new viewpoints and sources of inspiration.
