Autumn Charms Beyond South Bohemia
On a chilly autumn morning, a blanket of mist hovers over the partially drained pond. As the cold mud reveals what is hidden beneath, many figures clad in long cloaks and tall boots appear, nets in hand. This is a clear indication that it’s almost time for fishing season. The fishing season at the Třeboň Fishery will continue over the next few days.

Fishers will be casting their nets in various regions of Bohemia and Moravia. For instance, in the area around Prague, a fishing catch will occur at Jevan Pond on Thursday, October 25, 2025, and at Vyžlov Pond on Saturday, November 8, 2025. A highly anticipated fishing event in Moravia is the annual catch at Olšovce Pond, located near Jedovnice in the Moravian Karst. This year’s event is scheduled for November 1 and 2.
Mariánské Lázně Fishery invites everyone to fish at Amerika Pond close to Františkovy Lázně on October 27 and 28, 2025, and at Betlém Pond near Teplá on November 8, 2025. One of the major highlights every autumn is the catch at Regent Pond near Chodová Plané, where fish lovers can savor delicious fish dishes on November 6 and 7. In Pardubice, the Bohdaneč Pond catch takes place every year on the national holiday of October 28. On the dam, there will be a stall offering live fish for sale, including carp, grass carp, pike, catfish, tench, roach, and zander.
