Silesian Ostrava Castle Revives with the Enchanting Castle Feast
On Saturday, October 11, 2025, Silesian Ostrava Castle will open its gates at 9:30 a.m. for the much-loved Hodokvas at the castle. This castle is beautifully located where the Ostravice and Lucina rivers meet. Its spot along popular cycling paths makes it a fantastic place for outings, providing guests not only a chance to relax but also an opportunity to explore Ostrava’s rich history.
All through the Castle Feast at Silesian Ostrava Castle, there will be a series of exciting feast and fruit activities taking place on stage. The castle will come to life with a vibe from ancient times; visitors can expect to see historical costumes, farm animals, and traditional crafts. Enjoy a genuine castle slaughter along with cooking demos where you can taste historical dishes like fruity sauces, pancakes, and porridge—an authentic taste of medieval cuisine.
Besides the delightful food specialties, you can look forward to additional activities. In the Ceremonial Hall, you will learn about hunting and historical weapons from the time of royal huntsmen up until today. There will be fun projection displays featuring hunters, as well as demonstrations of handguns and old weaponry. Kids will have their own space in the armoury with a playroom and creative area. The castle’s terrace will showcase Ondrej the blacksmith and other crafts, and there will even be a fun shooting range. During the Hodokvas in the Great Hall, market vendors will have beeswax candles, autumn decorations, gemstones, minerals, scented waxes, floral boxes, leather goods, herbal teas, engraved wooden items, and unique jewelry available for purchase. Additionally, the outdoor marketplace will feature a vast assortment of various stalls: from wine and roasted knees to sausages, gyros, gnocchi, potato pancakes, baked potatoes, and cakes made right on-site, along with sausages and venison delicacies like sausages, goulash, and pâté. You’ll find hand-crafted cheeses, korbáčiky, parenice, and ostiepok, homemade spicy sauces, cooked corn, jerky, potato spirals, waffles on sticks, or spa wafers. There will also be processed fruits and vegetables (including fermented kinds), syrups, herbs, mead, mulled wine, cotton candy, fudge, light punch, lemonade, fruit wines like currant, mixed drinks, and coffee. Plus, beer, gluten-free treats, cakes, pastries, and Wallachian frgals will be available too!
