Final Opportunity for Thrilling River Cruises! Locks Open Until End of October

If you want to make the most of your visit to Českobudějovicko, there are many fun activities related to the Vltava Trail. Although the peak season for river activities has passed, some services are still available. If you’re thinking about a private boat trip between Budějovice and Týn nad Vltavou, keep in mind that locks on the weirs are still operational until 31 October, but you must call and arrange this at least 24 hours ahead of time.
Another popular spot that remains open is the Ferrata Hluboká. You can rent climbing gear at the Sports and Relaxation Area located in Hluboká nad Vltavou, and you can also rent a bike or scooter. Combining a ride along the Vltava River’s cycle path to the ferrata with a visit to the nearby ruins of Karlov Hrádek is a great option.
You can also embark on a sightseeing cruise on a larger vessel, but this option is only for groups. The cruise operators haven’t fully closed up the boats for winter yet, so you can book an individual cruise for 10 or more people. These cruises are typically enjoyed by groups of friends or for corporate events. Malše lives until December

While the Vltava River season wraps up in October, Malše continues to operate in České Budějovice. Year-round boat cruises are available on St. Rosalie. This 40-minute cruise starts at the VLNNA Café, located at the dead-end of the Malše River. During the cruise, you’ll witness the oldest preserved monuments in České Budějovice, including the city walls and towers. You’ll also sail through where the Malše and Vltava rivers meet, glide under five architecturally interesting bridges, and pass significant historical buildings. Tickets for the boat can be bought at the nearby floating Café VLNNA, which is also where you board. It’s a good idea to arrive early so you can enjoy a delicious coffee and dessert before your journey begins.

In December, there will be special Devil Cruises (on Dec. 5 at 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.) and specially themed cruises to Bethlehem (on Nov. 29 and Dec. 1, 6, and 7). Throughout the cruise, there will be five pauses where part of a biblical narrative performed by the Mareš Theatre Agency Kultur will take place on the banks.
