CzechTourism Slovakia Celebrates Global Unveiling of Dan Brown’s Latest Bestselling Novel!

CzechTourism Slovakia at the Opening Ceremony
“It’s not every day that a world-famous writer promotes Czechia so openly and joyfully. A few years ago, British author Simon Mawer did just that with his novel *The Glass Room*, which highlighted Brno and Villa Tugendhat. Now, Dan Brown is capturing attention with his new book set in Prague. His thrilling seven-hundred-page adventure guides readers through iconic landmarks as well as lesser-known sites like bars, galleries, parks, and the underground. That’s why we were excited to partner with IKAR publishing to promote *The Last Secret* and offer some fantastic prizes for related competitions. Fans of Prague can discover the city anew by following in the footsteps of Robert Langdon,” says Nora Gill, Director of CzechTourism Slovakia.
In early September, CzechTourism Slovakia attended the global launch of Dan Brown’s new novel at a prominent event in Bratislava’s Eurovea shopping center. Visitors enjoyed fresh brownies and chilled prosecco at the Panta Rhei bookstore on release day, while young men donned in cassock hoods added an air of mystery. Each book buyer received a bookmark from Prague City Tourism, alongside various promotional materials about Prague walks and maps from the CzechTourism stand.
Slovak Media in Prague
An additional event connected to the book launch included sending Slovak journalists to an international press conference with Dan Brown in Prague’s Mirror Chapel at the Clementinum. Katarína Sedláková from *Pravda* was able to pose an exclusive question to the author, stating:
“I’ll step forward and ask him if, having visited so many cities in Prague, he has read any Czech writers and who his favorites are. Will he mention Franz Kafka, whom he briefly referenced in the book, or perhaps think of Jaroslav Hašek’s infamous soldier Svejk, Karel Čapek, Jan Neruda, Bohumil Hrabal, Milan Kundera, or Václav Havel? Or has he heard of poet Jaroslav Seifert or, among women, of Božena Němcová? The American answered without missing a beat.”
The Prague program for journalists included a debate at Lucerna and a themed walk in the footsteps of Dan Brown, a new offering from Prague City Tourism. Editors from *Pravda* and *SME* newspapers, along with a team from the commercial Slovak TV JOJ, participated in the walk.
This press trip resulted in unique insights published in Slovak media regarding the book’s creation and interactions with the author, as well as his editor-in-chief Jason Kaufman and other key figures from his circle.
Exclusive Contest Prizes
Currently—through mid-January 2026—fans of Dan Brown’s work in Slovakia can enter a competition for an exciting grand prize provided by CzechTourism Slovakia and IKAR Publishing. The winner will receive a fantastic weekend stay for two at the Majestic Plaza Hotel in Prague. To enter, participants must complete an eight-question quiz that reveals Dan Brown’s school nickname at the end.
CzechTourism Slovakia will also present the first-place winner with a voucher for a themed walk from Prague City Tourism, along with a Prague visitor card. The second-place winner will also enjoy a themed walk.
The competition ends in mid-January, with a draw scheduled for January 20, 2026. Full details about the competition, including terms and prizes, can be found on the publisher’s dedicated website and on social media channels of both the publisher and CzechTourism Slovakia.
A second competition with CzechTourism is planned for later this autumn on the social media and website of news television TA3. The lucky winner will enjoy a luxurious stay at the five-star hotel The Julius on Senovážné Square. Nora Gill will announce this competition live on TA3.
Prague, the City of Literature
“Dan Brown’s latest book presents a significant opportunity to elevate Czechia’s profile worldwide. With Prague featured in a global bestseller, readers will be eager to experience the story’s atmosphere for themselves,” says František Reismüller, Director of the Czech Tourist Authority – CzechTourism.
Alongside Professor Langdon and Katherine Solomon, Prague emerges as an essential character in the story. The author himself calls the book a love letter to the city, leading readers through its well-known and off-the-beaten-path locations. After reading, visitors are sure to see it with fresh eyes.
Next year will be exciting as Czechia prepares to be the guest of honor at the Frankfurt Book Fair, promoting Prague as a city of literature. Additionally, a series adaptation of Brown’s book has already been announced by Netflix.
