First on our list is The Kingdom of Railways located in Smichov. Here, you can marvel at hundreds of meters of tracks, numerous model trains and vehicles that navigate through intersections, as well as impressive models of significant buildings and landmarks from the Czech Republic. You will feel the one-of-a-kind ambiance created by the transition between day and night. The exhibit also features a large model depicting Prague.Museums can also be a great option! In recent years, they’ve shifted from just showing objects to becoming a place full of experiences, inviting visitors to interact and engage. Families with children especially love the Agricultural Museum and the Children’s Museum, both housed in the National Museum’s New Building. Another exciting choice is the Karel Zeman Museum in Kampa, which showcases fantastic cinematic treasures.

The mystical atmosphere permeates every item here, ensuring your visit is nothing short of enchanting… Meanwhile, the Museum of the Senses in Jindřiška provides an interactive experience where you can actively participate in the exhibitions. With over 50 engaging exhibits to explore, you’ll find rooms designed with distorted perspectives and visuals that create optical illusions. If you’re with older kids, they’ll have a blast at go-karts. The largest facility is in Horní Počernice, just outside Prague. An UV neon adventure mini-golf course is also sure to keep the teens entertained.
Entertainment around Prague
For those willing to explore a bit outside the city center, you can treat your kids to endless fun in a magical world at Majaland, which is the largest indoor amusement park in the Czech Republic. Another fantastic option is Dinosauria Prague, an exhibit filled with dinosaur models and skeletons. Both parks are conveniently located in Tuchoměřice. If you travel to Poděbrady, make sure to visit the Film Legends Museum, which features Hollywood fairy tale and fantasy characters like those from Avatar, E.T., Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings, along with famous faces like Alien, Predator, and Terminator, not to mention beloved Walt Disney characters. Additionally, at the Rodas Candle Factory in Šestajovice, you can participate in various craft workshops where you can make and decorate things like candles, soaps, bath products, colored wax crayons, gingerbread treats, and Belgian chocolates. Heading north from Prague offers fun for kids as well. Be sure to check out the Museum of the Four Clovers near the castle in Doksy, which is currently undergoing renovation. The four-leaf clover comic characters originate from Třeskoprsk, a place that resembles the Mácha region, the birthplace of the famous comic creator Jaroslav Němeček. So it isn’t surprising that the museum is located here. And let’s face it—who doesn’t adore the Four Leaf Clover and cherish childhood memories of it? We believe that not just children will enjoy this, but adults will too!
If you make your way to Liberec, don’t dismiss shopping centers. Why? Because at the local Plaza, you’ll find the only indoor DinoPark that is open year-round in the Czech Republic. All those roaring prehistoric creatures in one location are sure to excite any child. They are displayed at life-size, leaving kids dreaming about them long after. Moreover, you’ll encounter a walking robotic baby stegosaurus that strolls around several times a day. If that’s not exciting enough, they can also enjoy themselves at amusement parks, as well as in iQpark (the first of its kind in the Czech Republic) and the newer Science Center iQlandia. Both locations feature over 300 interactive exhibits paired with unique educational programs.
Located 5 km south of Jablonec n. Nisou in the village of Krásná is the historic area called Burk, constructed in the 18th century by the illustrious Dr. Kittel. This recently renovated mysterious house is surrounded by legends linked to the devil and the doctor’s past exploits. It has been fully refurbished, and the timbered mansion now resembles how it looked when the healer originally built it. A unique feature is The Black Kitchen, which stands unmatched in this region. On the ground floor of the renovated building, you will discover a museum, a library, an information center, a gift shop, and Kittel’s Pharmacy. Outside, the original pond and greenhouses have been brought back to life to cultivate medicinal plants.
Towards the east
Traveling east from Prague, you will find the family amusement park Tongo in Hradec Králové. This wonderfully designed spot is filled with climbing structures, slides, and various attractions that are bound to keep your children entertained as they navigate through this island-themed adventure. After their fun-filled day, they are sure to be worn out when it’s time to head home!
Searching for a distinctive family day trip? Consider a visit to The Devil’s Den near Hlinsko! This incredible structure goes a whopping 12 meters deep below ground and contains hundreds of passageways and caverns… and rises eight meters high to the sky. You will see unique sights like the devil’s school, trapeze, and even moments to sip drinks from the most charming devil in Hell, as well as navigate through the hall of the seven deadly sins while learning from Prince Lucifer about the fates of your sinful souls. Whether you choose to stay in this realm of devils or return back to the surface is entirely up to you.
Did you enjoy the enchanting World of Puppets during your childhood? Share that magic with your children at the Museum of Puppetry Cultures Chrudim. The ongoing exhibition called The Magical World of Puppets gradually reveals the rich history of puppetry, featuring puppets from traveling puppeteers, variety shows, and family puppet theaters, along with works by Czech artists. There are also notable figures like Spejbl and Hurvínek, along with creations by Jiří Trnka and Josef Váchal. The exhibition also highlights shadow Puppets from Indonesia, along with selections from India, Japan, China, and Burma, not to mention a traditional Vietnamese water puppet. A recent 2020 update added rare collection items and artifacts linked to puppet theater that were previously kept from the public eye. This includes puppets created by Jiří Trnka and the entire set from the performance Enspiel, lauded as one of the pivotal productions of modern Czech puppetry.
Ceske Budejovice, Pilsen and surroundings
In southern Bohemia, in České Budějovice, there is the exciting Hopsarium. This modern play area features, among other things, an impressive eight-meter climbing tower with slides, a climbing wall with challenges, maxitrampolines, a versatile area for ball games, a large transport playground featuring a petrol station and traffic lights, thrilling rides using inflatable circles, cannons shooting foam balls, or even a boat bobbing on the waves. Guaranteed enjoyment awaits everyone.
In Písek, you will discover the Malthouse, which offers multiple levels of knowledge and entertainment ideal for the youngest visitors. In Tabor, consider taking the kids to the Museum of Chocolate and Marzipan, where you’ll not only view chocolaty displays of various sizes but also have the opportunity to craft your own creations.
Where to go with children in Moravia?
If you’re looking for an educational outing, we strongly recommend Exposition of Time in Šternberk. This interactive exhibit covers the incredible 14 billion years of Time from the Big Bang to modern atomic clocks. It’s an engaging way to discover fascinating information. And it’s not just about… passing the time; you’ll find knowledge conveyed through all the senses at the Praděd Museum in Jeseník.
If you’re near Olomouc, we suggest visiting the Fortresses of Knowledge. Here, you can engage in Experiments on your own and observe unique sights not readily found elsewhere. This includes a model brain that you can walk through, coming face to face with larger-than-life aquatic insects, creating floods with hundreds of gallons of water, solving giant puzzles, or gazing at the digital night sky in the planetarium. For younger children, the former industrial hall in Olomouc’s Lazce has the upcoming amusement park, Krokodýlek, which spans an area of 3,000 square meters, boasting 25 attractions making it one of the largest children’s entertainment spots in Moravia.
Lastly, we invite you to the capital of Moravia. The Bongo Family Amusement Park is designed to offer experiences from around the globe, with every attraction showcasing a different country. Your kids will certainly enjoy their time here. An excellent spot to take the kids in Brno is the Vida Science Amusement Park, featuring exhibits like an earthquake plate, X-ray eyes, an ocean-in-a-bottle, a rope-wheel, a spinning room, a flood simulator, and a model of the human heart that’s larger than life, a community of Atta ants, an archaeological sandbox, and a water printer. In Ostrava, a great place for children is the local attraction called Big and Small World of Technology, located in the Vítkovice Ironworks, and another exciting option is the experience at the Landek Mine. Within the Mining Museum, there’s a captivating exhibition called “Ferdinand the Horse and Other Four-Legged Miners.” The story of Ferdinand, the horse from the Anselm shaft, tells an enthralling tale about the lives and duties of the “four-legged miners” who helped unearth “black gold” underground for decades. Also highly visited is the Silesian Ostrava Castle, which provides a narrated virtual guide via QR codes. You can also explore the butterfly house in Ostrava, which boasts the largest permanent butterfly exhibition in the Czech Republic. Within a tropical environment filled with exotic flowers, thousands of stunning butterflies reside. In Kopřivnice, you’ll find the well-loved Tatra Car Museum, Tatra Truck Museum, and the Slovak Strela exhibition.
