Zoo Prague Welcomes You to Embrace Diwali
One of the most well-known and vibrant Indian festivals is Diwali – the festival of lights. According to the story, many lights are lit up throughout the night to help guide Rama back home from his exile. The Elephant Valley at Prague Zoo, which features the Hindu Ashram Temple, is an excellent spot to celebrate Diwali.
The parade will kick off at the Education Centre. It will go past the Penguins, through the Antlers area, then into the Forbidden Zone, leading to the Giant. After that, it will continue through the Gobi Exhibition Complex and into the Valley of Elephants, where it will pass by the beautifully decorated Ashram and reach the Gulab Restaurant for the light show. Participants can exit the zoo through either the north or main entrance.
Set up a classic lantern with LED bulb
Anyone who arrives at the zoo with their own LED lantern will be allowed in for just one crown starting at 5:30 p.m. It has to be a classic lantern, and not flying lanterns (also known as lucky balloons)! Other light sources (like torches or mobile phone lights) do not qualify for the special entry fee. Be sure to allow yourself sufficient time reserve to reach the garden. Entry to this event is only available through the main entrance of the zoo. You must have lanterns with LED bulbs to join the lantern parade; traditional candles are not permitted.
Did you know that this year, you will also get the chance to see the Light Zoo, which Zoo Prague has organized through its Garden of Lights? From October 31, 2025, to February 15, 2026, visitors can enjoy over 100 lanterns shaped like African animals and plants. There will be a separate admission fee for the Zoo of Lights, with tickets available just outside the main entrance, near the city bus turntable behind the Ocean restaurant.
