Jezeří Bids Farewell to the Season with Unforgettable Tours

Jezeří CastleThis year, there are a variety of fascinating tours prepared for the farewell to the visitor season. The visitor season at Jezeří is extended until Sunday, November 2.. It will be active on weekends and during the fall break, including Monday, October 27. From Saturday, October 25 to Sunday, November 2, Jezeří Castle will be open every day. On weekends and the public holiday on Tuesday, October 28, all three routes will be available. During the weekdays from Wednesday, October 29 to Friday, November 1, 2025, two guided routes will be in operation: a guided tour of the castle interiors and a separate self-guided Circuit without a guide. Tours start at 10:00, 12:00, and 14:00. The last tours for interested visitors will depart at 15:00.

Even though the landscape below the Ore Mountains has changed drastically, resulting in the disappearance of places like Ervěnice, Nové Sedlo, Komořany, Třebušice, Dřínov, Albrechtice, and Dolní Jiřetín, we still appreciate the brilliance of the ancient builders. Perhaps for Jezeří Castle, they could not have found a better location. The castle, known as Castle from the lake (de Lacu), also called Eisenberg, has been overlooking the slopes of the Ore Mountains since the 14th century. Over time, it transformed into a Renaissance residence and finally became the Baroque chateau that exists today. The Baroque style was added by the Lobkowicz family, for whom Jezeří became one of the most important estates.

Choose from three tours of Jezeří Castle

Jezeří CastleThe Circuit of Castle interiors is sure to impress you. These rooms are quite different from the typical castle settings we often see. Due to past damage to Jezeří Castle, these spaces do not overflow with collections of valuable porcelain, artwork, or ornate furnishings. Instead, you’ll encounter areas that have remained untouched by restorers, presenting a striking authenticity that reflects the passage of time. During your visit, you will discover 15 rooms, including the grand staircase, which is part of the representative areas on the first floor, and living spaces from the 19th and 20th centuries located in the northern wing.

Jezeří ChateauThe Circuit with a view is an unguided, self-exploratory tour that provides a unique vantage point over the landscape from the second floor of the southeast wing, including views of the CSA Velodrome, which significantly changed the region’s look in the 1970s. To help you understand what the surrounding areas used to be like around the castle, there is a thematic display dedicated to vanished villages, the lake, and the castle park. This circuit is available only on weekends and holidays.

The Circuit without a guide takes visitors through the ground floor and cellars without the aid of a guide. This tour showcases the castle’s ground floor, including the silver room, the Capuchinoratory areas, the chapel, the hunting rooms, and the main courtyard. This part of the castle is particularly enjoyable for children, who will delight in the dungeons where they can spot fairy-tale creatures and ghosts.
