Revitalize Krkonoše’s Wildlife and Forests!

The food that has been gathered will be kept by forest workers at designated management sites in the forest. They will use it for the winter feeding of wildlife, both in special pens and out in the open. In the colder months, when food is scarce, deer tend to gather in what are known as “foraging areas” and overwintering enclosures. Currently, there are 18 of these enclosures available in Krkonoše National Park. They provide a place for animals to hibernate comfortably, allowing them to get through winter peacefully without causing harm to the forests by eating or damaging trees. In these enclosures, forest workers distribute the food along with items that the public donates.

People can help provide food for the wildlife by taking it to the information centers of the KRNAP Administration, located in Harrachov, Pec pod Sněžkou, Špindlerův Mlýn, and Vrchlabí. These centers are open every day from 9 am to 12 pm and from 1 pm to 3 pm. Acceptable items include apples, dried chestnuts, acorns, buckeyes, and hard, well-dried bread. The KRNAP staff is willing to collect larger amounts of donations. This collection will continue until March 15, 2026.
