Explore the Czech Republic This Summer: Rising Tourist Numbers, Extended Visits, and Global Attention!

Metropolis Leads, Regions Strengthen

Most foreign visitors to Czechia came from Germany (660,000), Poland (340,000), and Slovakia (288,000). There was also an increase in tourist interest from the UK and Austria. Prague remains the most popular destination, welcoming over 2.2 million visitors, accounting for almost a third of all arrivals. This was followed by South Moravia (848,000) and South Bohemia (792,000), which attracted visitors with their cultural events, wineries, and natural beauty. In terms of overnight stays, South Bohemia (2.3 million) and South Moravia (1.9 million) trailed behind Prague (5.3 million nights). The Karlovy Vary Region boasts the longest average length of stay at 4.8 days, reflecting its spa character, while stays in Prague average 3.4 days and in the South Moravian Region, 3.2 days.

Stable Growth and New Markets

Long-term trends since 2012 indicate that visitor numbers to Czechia have been steadily rising. The pandemic caused a temporary dip in this growth, but tourism has rebounded quickly, not just in the capital but in other regions known for spa and recreational activities. While foreign tourists primarily come from neighboring countries, many are now exploring lesser-known areas across the country. There’s also growing interest from travelers in Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America.

Skokanis of the Year: Growth from Far-Flung Destinations

Compared to summer 2024, arrivals and overnight stays have risen by 1.4% and 1%, respectively. Domestic visitor numbers remained stable, while international arrivals increased by 3.4%. Notable growth was seen from the UAE (+33.9%), Turkey (+31.6%), Argentina (+24%), and Japan (+21.5%).

According to František Reismüller, Director of the Czech Tourist Authority – CzechTourism, “Czechia attracts tourists all year round and across all regions. Traditional neighboring markets remain strong, but destinations further afield are also rapidly growing—from the Arabian Peninsula to Brazil to Japan. Compared to 2019, some markets significantly outperform those numbers, such as Turkey (over 100% increase), Saudi Arabia (almost 45%), and Poland (almost 43%). Our focus is on maintaining this positive trend, increasing the length of stays, and boosting tourist spending. Currently, the most lucrative countries include Germany, the USA, the UK, and Italy. We are also targeting distant markets like China, Canada, and the Arab states.”

Hotels as Popular Choice of Stay; Guesthouses Also Growing

Hotels continued to be the top accommodation choice in Q3 2025, with 4.8 million guests (or 60% of all visitors) opting for them. This represents a 4.1% year-on-year improvement, with domestic guests up 3.1% and international guests up 2.7%. A total of 2.7 million hotel guests came from abroad.

Guesthouses also saw an increase, welcoming 1.1 million guests, a rise of 4.5%. While foreign tourists made up one-fifth of this number, their presence grew by 3.4%. Compared to the same period last year, foreign visitor arrivals increased by 9.7%.

However, campsites faced a decline, with arrivals down 10.9% year-on-year, and overnight stays falling by 8.2%. In contrast, there was an uptick in guests at cottage villages and tourist hostels, showing improved arrivals and overnight stays.
