Safeguards of Democracy.
The theme for this year is “Safeguards of Democracy.” The organizers want to remind us that democracy is an ongoing process. Even though we might not always agree, it’s essential to find unity on fundamental values like respect, willingness, and understanding for one another. This event will underscore important safeguards of democracy including the Constitution, freedom of speech, independent media, a vibrant civil society, and our memberships in NATO and the European Union. Other important aspects include free elections, bravery, and national cohesion among the Czech people. Czechs have shown exceptional solidarity during challenges, such as floods, pandemics, and support for Ukraine. Despite what some disinformation might suggest, we are coming together. These safeguards of democracy allow for various viewpoints to coexist, and we must not lose sight of them. We all share this country, our lives are intertwined here, and that’s where our strength and responsibility lie. Let’s remember that democracy isn’t about the triumph of the ‘right’ side, but instead about finding common ground where there seems to be none.
Mobile Wenceslas Square
Social media and online communications can create a sense of misunderstanding and make it seem like we can’t communicate effectively. But how true is this perception? From October 17 to 31, 2025, the initiative Mobile Wenceslas Square traveled to all 14 regions. Reporters conducted interviews, asked questions, and actively listened to people, encouraging open discussions about the safeguards of democracy. They invited everyone to share messages that would resonate throughout society. The outcome of this effort was hundreds of recorded voices that are being shared on social media, with plans to be played in Wenceslas Square during the Concert for the Future on 17 November 2025.open to everyone for free. Instead of charging an entrance fee, attendees will have the option to make a voluntary contribution.
