If you’re planning to spend the final days of the old year in Šumava, add some fun to your mountain getaway by taking a morning hike up Javorník near Vacov. No matter which route you take to the peak, you will enjoy a nice spot to relax and visit the Klostermann lookout tower. On both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, there will be a food stand available. Additionally, a special New Year’s Eve party will be held at the eastern edge of the country. Jurkovič tower will be accessible on New Year’s Eve. Come enjoy the scenic views of wintertime Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. You can also keep active on New Year’s Eve by taking a hike to Velký Lopeník, where the lookout tower will be open. It is also a tradition to embark on the New Year’s Eve hike to Klíč in the Lusatian Mountains. In Jablonec nad Nisou, you can join a community for a run on New Year’s Eve at the New Year’s Run around three dams. Or, enjoy New Year’s Eve celebrations at the rooftop of the Czech railway in Kubova Hut, where special New Year’s Eve trains will operate.
The last day of the year at castles and chateaus
From December 27 until December 31, 2025, you have a special chance to explore the castle of Vranov nad Dyjí set above the scenic Vranov Dam, and soak in the unique atmosphere of an aristocratic Christmas from the late 19th century to early 20th century. This year’s Christmas celebration at Vranov features a fun cultural program taking place in the courtyard. The enchanting New Year’s Eve celebrations at Šternberk Castle also have an exciting program lined up. Tours will be available from 10 AM to 3 PM. Enjoy the delightful tunes of a flutist in the courtyard, and if you’re feeling adventurous, you can participate in an orienteering race called New Year’s Eve Suitcase. Also, you won’t want to miss the fabulous party provided by New Year’s Eve at Wildstein Castle, complete with a delectable buffet, live music, and dancing.
