Discover the Enchanting Jihlava Zoo in Winter After Dark!

Zoo Jihlava welcomes you to come visit even during winter and at night. The staff at the zoo often find that many guests believe that once the ticket office shuts down, the zoo itself closes and they need to leave. This is especially true in winter as the zoo offers a fantastic experience with fewer visitors, active animals, some of which are going to sleep, while others are just waking up at twilight. We invite you to stay at the zoo even after the main ticket office closes at 4 PM. The Jihlava Zoo remains open for at least another two hours, meaning until 6:00 PM..

So, what can you see at Zoo Jihlava? During the winter months, there are some cold-loving creatures to admire, like red pandas (Ailurus fulgens) and snow leopards (Panthera uncia). The zoo is also home to several generations of irises that were born in Jihlava Zoo. It’s also lively in the area where lams and alpacas reside, where you might spot the youngest members of this species. In the indoor exhibition at the tropical pavilion, you can see three baby capybaras (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris), born on October 31, 2025. They are already fully developed, with fur and open eyes, and can swim and dive just a few hours after being born.
