Discover the Top Czech Wine of 2026: Scarabeus Tramín from Škrobák Winery in Čejkovice

This year’s Wine Salon – National Wine Competition, hosted by the National Wine Centre with help from the Wine Fund and in collaboration with the Association of Winegrowers of the Czech Republic, has seen the participation of 2724 wines. Out of these, 1631 were selected for national evaluation, leading to the selection of 400 wines from 142 wineries for further recognition. These wines were then compiled into a final collection showcasing the 100 best wines that enthusiasts can enjoy tasting at the chateau in Valtice starting from the end of January 2026.

Elegant aroma from Čejkovice vineyard

The top award has been given to Scarabeus Traminer, late harvest, dry, vintage 2023, produced by Škrobák Winery located in Čejkovice. This exceptional wine is sourced from a 21-year-old vineyard situated on the Niva Hrbatá line in Čejkovice, where the growing conditions are particularly favorable for this grape variety, resulting in low yet very high-quality yields. It is well-known for its unique and elegant aroma featuring hints of orange liqueur, tangerine peel, and lychee, along with a robust flavor that leaves a memorable finish. Škrobák Winery was previously recognized as Winery of the Year (2018). This family-run winery is deeply rooted in a tradition where the passion for winemaking has been shared from father to son through many generations. The winery’s foundation was established by Vladimír Škrobák, who dedicated his entire life to wine and vineyards, tirelessly promoting the reputation of Čejkovice wines. His efforts significantly contributed to the replanting of the historically famous vineyard lines in Čejkovice.
