Experience the Magic: Prague’s Christmas Flotilla Hits the Streets—Discover the Festively Adorned Mazačka and Trolleybus for Holiday Excitement!

The vehicles are adorned with a stunning total of over 34,000 Christmas lights, featuring festive decorations indoors as well as special winter and Christmas-themed designs on the outside. On the decorated trams , you’ll hear Christmas carols playing in between stop announcements.
This year, the beloved Mazačka features a unique, illuminated model of Prague landmarks instead of its usual water tank. The Prague City Transport Company has expanded its Christmas fleet to include eleven vehicles this year, which is two more than last year.
The fleet includes historic tram No. 2272, tug car No. 1530, historic tram Tatra K2 No. 7000, bus SOR NB 12 No. 4073, articulated SOR NB 18 No. 6966, and three-cell trolleybus Škoda-Solaris 24M No. 407.
People waiting at Křižíkova station will also be able to enjoy the holiday decorations, and there will, of course, be a Christmas tree and other decorations at the Public Transport Museum in Střešovice. Part of the festive display includes wishes from children in orphanages that passengers can help fulfill through the volunteer project Dear Santa Claus found at milyjezisku.eu.
Where and when can you see the Christmas vehicles?
You might be wondering about the routes and times when the Christmas vehicles will be out. They will be running from early morning until afternoon and evening across most areas of Prague. The two-axle Ringhoffer and K2 trams will use the historic tram line No. 42. Please note that the PID fare does not apply on this specific line.
Regular T3 cars will operate on lines run by the Žižkov depot, while tram 14T will be on regular lines from the Kobylisy depot, and tram 15T on routes from the Motol depot. Similarly, both buses will serve lines managed by the Hostivař and Klíčov garages. A three-cell trolleybus will be transporting passengers on line 59 to Václav Havel Airport in Prague. You can find the schedules for individual vehicles, including the Mazačka, on the DPP website.
Also, you can rent the Christmas-decorated trams to treat your business partners or anyone else to a scenic ride through festive Prague on a lighted tram.
Where can you find the special Christmas tram?
One of the specials among Prague’s Christmas vehicles is the lubricated tram (registration č. 5572), which has gained a kind of legendary status among both “shotouches” and the general public. This year, it has been beautifully decorated with thousands of electric candles and features a winter-themed design instead of its usual orange color, making its way along the Prague tramrails. You can find out when and where to see the Mazačka by checking the DPP website.
Children’s Wishes from Orphanages
The project Dear Santa Claus has successfully gathered over 2,500 wishes mainly from children in 80 orphanages. Passengers have the option to choose a specific gift for a specific child, which will be delivered to the orphanage after payment. For the first time, the Christmas vehicles featuring full-wrap decorations (except for tram 15T) will come with screens that display the current number of children’s wishes waiting to be fulfilled, as well as specific wishes along with a QR code. Passengers can scan the code during their ride on public transport to fulfill these wishes right away.
