Beautifully themed decorations and engaging storytelling will enhance the upcoming winter exhibitions.
The stunning Advent events at Kačina will start on the second Sunday of Advent, 7 December. Guests can witness demonstrations of traditional customs and crafts, including featherwork, weaving, bobbing for Christmas ornaments, and creating Franciscan or nativity figures.
The joyful atmosphere will be uplifted by carol singing in the chateau chapel, and kids will enjoy A Christmas Fairy Tale featuring Luciprnda and Angelica, who must stay on Earth to learn about Christmas traditions. In the courtyard of the carriage house, there will be a traditional Old Bohemian slaughter feast, this time featuring delicacies from the castle’s smokehouse – including homemade specialties like jitrnice, jelita, and other savory foods, all made with great care. Additionally, there will be a photography exhibition by the famous photographer Jindřich Štreit, showcasing the tradition of home slaughtering.
Christmas market and special tours on the second Sunday of Advent in Kačina
On the second Sunday of Advent, December 7, come to the unique castle cellars – here you will find a festive Advent market filled with Christmas delicacies and handmade items. Throughout the day, there will be guided tours of the beautifully decorated castle interiors featuring a performance by the Chamber People that showcases an Advent dream or the Christmas spirit involving Rudolf and his countess. In the castle’s courtyard, visitors can enjoy tasty treats, warm up with delicious Christmas punch or mulled wine, and shop for unique items at craft stalls. Children can send their Christmas wishes using the Kachina branch of Santa’s Post Office or share their wishes with Santa at the life-size nativity scene in the castle chapel.
Advent tours of the castle and Winter’s Tale
Advent tours at the castle will continue on the weekends of December 13-14, December 20-21, and December 26-31. Guests will have access to all the castle’s tours and current exhibitions, including a special exhibition of paintings called Vlastimil Bareš Landscapes of Kačina.
During Advent, the castle’s exhibition hallway will feature a display of nativity scenes, highlighting family nativity traditions from various areas of Bohemia and Moravia. Visitors are also invited to bring gifts to place under the Christmas tree for lonely seniors.
Admission: For adults, it’s 200 CZK; for children aged 6-18 years, students, and seniors, it’s 150 CZK; children aged 2-6 years are 70 CZK, and family admission (2 adults + 2-3 children up to 15 years) costs 450 CZK; people with disabilities enter for free.
