Třešt' cribsYou can visit the 17th annual crib exhibition of Třešt’ hand-carved nativity scenes in the Jindřiška Tower until February 2, 2026. The exhibition is open every day from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.. A ticket costs 190 CZK and allows you to enjoy a complete tour of the entire tower. The tradition of Bethlehem making in Třešt’, located in the Highlands, began in the early 19th century. Initially, locals created cribs from paper, but starting in 1860, they began to craft them from wood. Some of the cribs in Třešt’ feature 500 figures and can be as long as seven metres.

Even today, there are many active folk carvers who are part of the Society of Friends of Nativity Scenes. During Christmas, they typically display their nativity scenes for visitors in their homes. This year, you can see these from December 26, 2025, to February 2, 2026, as part of the Bethlehem Trail. Additionally, the year-round exhibition at the J. A. Schumpeter House in Třešt’ has recently been refurbished and is now reopening, with voluntary admission. It is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except for December 25, 2025, and January 1, 2026, when it is accessible only from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
