Discover the Culinary Excellence: Ten MICHELIN Stars Highlighting the Best of Czechia Beyond Prague

In Czechia, there are nine restaurants that have been awarded a prestigious MICHELIN Star for their outstanding gastronomy. Additionally, 18 establishments have earned the Bib Gourmand distinction for providing excellent value for money, and four restaurants have received a Green Star for their commitment to sustainability and responsible practices. The selection features 79 restaurants, showcasing the incredible diversity of culinary styles available throughout Czechia, many of which reflect the country’s rich history and culture.
Local specialties are creatively reinterpreted while respecting tradition. This results in dishes that are light, well-balanced, and easy to digest. Chefs prioritize local ingredients, transforming them using international culinary techniques. Many top restaurants maintain their own gardens or collaborate closely with local farmers, fishermen, and suppliers. Czechia also boasts a rich selection of renowned beers and excellent wines that are worth exploring.
“Czech gastronomy, thanks to its unique blend of tradition and modernity, invites both local gourmets and global visitors on a culinary journey. We are proud that our new selection recognizes restaurants across the entire country, not just in Prague, acknowledging the skills, dedication, and outstanding quality present throughout Czechia,” states Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide. “Our inspectors traveled extensively across Czechia, discovering the best restaurants not only in major cities but also in smaller towns and villages. They were particularly impressed by the outstanding wine regions and the exceptional hospitality found throughout the country.”
The inspectors’ selection of exceptional restaurants showcases the continuous evolution of the Czech gastronomic scene.
Two MICHELIN Stars
Czechia is home to top-level gastronomy, including a two MICHELIN Stars restaurant. At Papilio in Vysoký Újezd, housed in former castle stables with a stunning vaulted ceiling, Jan Knedla and his team offer tasting menus that can include up to ten courses, prepared in an open kitchen. The chef creatively reinterprets dishes from his childhood using high-quality, locally sourced ingredients.
Eight One-Star Restaurants
Eight restaurants in Czechia have been awarded one MICHELIN Star, with six receiving this distinction for the first time. Notable entries include ESSENS in Hlohovec, known for its modern dishes made from regional and seasonal ingredients; Entrée at the Theatre Hotel in Olomouc, featuring an innovative menu and an open kitchen; and the stylish La Villa in Zlín, which offers a fusion of French and Czech cuisine. In Prague, LEVITATE impresses with its unique blend of historic and modern elements, combining Czech ingredients with Asian spices and Nordic influences. Field and La Degustation Bohême Bourgeoise in Prague have successfully retained their MICHELIN Stars.
18 Bib Gourmand
The MICHELIN Guide has recognized 18 restaurants with the Bib Gourmand designation for providing excellent value. Among the 15 new Bib Gourmand awardees are Šupina and Šupinka in Třeboň, particularly appealing to fish enthusiasts; Bar ATELIER & bistro in Brno, set in a historic atmosphere; and Long Story Short Eatery & Bakery in Olomouc, designed around shareable plates. Three MICHELIN Special Awards
In recognition of outstanding performance, three professionals received MICHELIN Special Awards: Service Award, Young Chef Award, and Sommelier Award.
The Service Award was given to Miroslav Nosek, the attentive host at the Prague restaurant Field. Known for his friendly demeanor and willingness to assist, he complements the creative cuisine of head chef Radek Kašpárek, helping the restaurant retain its MICHELIN Star this year.
