Discover a Tropical Wonderland at Troja’s Botanical Garden This Christmas!
On Christmas Day, the botanical garden in Troja is excited to welcome visitors from 9 am to 2 pm. You are invited to visit the Fata Morgana greenhouse, where you can marvel at the unique shapes and vibrant colors of the plants. The various types of flowers are always blooming, and new plant species are regularly introduced.
Immerse yourself in remote, exotic landscapes filled with the rich flora of the tropical world! In the Fata Morgana greenhouse, you can take a global journey, experiencing everything from humid lowlands to misty mountaintops, all without leaving the city. The Fata Morgana Greenhouse will also be open during the Christmas holidays: 24. 12. 2025 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm; 25. 12. 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; and 26. 12. 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It’s open daily except for Mondays. On New Year’s Eve, 31. 12. 2025, the greenhouse will be open from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
The Crystal Garden will enchant you
Many families have a tradition of taking walks in the countryside during the Christmas season. The Troja Botanical Garden is beautiful even in winter, especially with its stunning views of Prague. Getting some exercise will help you burn off all that potato salad or sweets you’ve eaten during the holidays while the fresh air on the hills can clear your mind.
You could finish your walk in the charming atmosphere of the Ornamental Garden, where you can enjoy the Crystal Garden exhibition. Instead of blooming annuals and perennials, you’ll find a variety of amazing plants, colorful flamingos, and lizards.
This exhibition will be open for visitors until 15 February 2026, featuring a vast collection of unique glass pieces created by Jiří Pačink and his team. Along with new installations, some of the most popular works from last year will be displayed again. On selected evenings from Thursday to Sunday, between 5 and 9 pm, the crystal artworks come to life with special lighting and music from the Prague Philharmonia Orchestra. There will also be a special audiovisual project by students from the Prague UMPRUM—original video mapping on the Chapel of St. Clare inspired by the plant world.
Excellent wine from St. Clare’s vineyard
If you’re looking to grab a bottle of something nice, you can stop by the Botanical Gardens before Christmas and treat yourself or someone special. Wines from the Troja Botanical Garden are known for winning awards in wine competitions every year, and a bottle from the exclusive small vineyard of St. Clare could make a fantastic gift under the Christmas tree for family, business associates, or friends. Plus, you can purchase wine straight away, all wrapped up, without the hassle of busy shopping malls. A bottle from St. Clare’s vineyard would be a thoughtful and unique option for your New Year’s Eve festivities instead of the usual bubbly.
St. Clare’s Wine Shop is typically open Monday through Friday from 1 to 4:30 pm, on weekends from 11 am, and during the Crystal Garden evening exhibition, it stays open until 8:30 pm. On Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, the hours are from 10 am to 2 pm, and on December 25 and 26, they are open from 10 am to 4:30 pm. It will also open earlier at 10 am during other Christmas holidays. Wine lovers should mark their calendars for the public tasting on 30 December 2025.
To unwind and warm up after your stroll, you can visit Café Ornament, which is open daily from 10 am to 4:30 pm; it stays open until 8:30 pm during the evening tours of the Crystal Garden exhibition Thursdays through Sundays. Note that on December 24 and 31, the café will close early at 2 pm.
