Discover Captivating Cities and Destinations for Refreshing Winter Strolls

Walking tours in Hradec Kralove
You can stroll through any city, but not all cities have routes that are as well-planned and organized as those in Hradec Kralove. Hradec Králové walking circuits provide several trips that focus on different themes. One will take you through the historic city centre, another highlights architectural gems from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, a period when architects Jan Kotěra and Josef Gočár influenced the city’s design in what is known as the Salon of the Republic, while also contributing to modern architectural advancements. A different circuit will show you modern landmarks, and another will lead you to explore when Hradec was a fortress town. You may conclude your visit at the former cloakroom or the similarly named restaurant. Here, in the historic prison dungeons or in the winter garden that offers a lovely view of the Žižkov orchards, you can enjoy traditional and local specialties. If you’re a history buff, don’t miss the long-term exhibition at the Museum of East Bohemia called Paths of the City. This modern display illustrates Hradec’s history from prehistoric times all the way to the First Republic.
With the architectural manual around Brno
The architectural trails of Brno are crafted specifically for those who love architecture from the First Republic. It will not only familiarize you with the well-known functionalist buildings, such as the famous Villa Tugendhat, but also allow you to walk the streets beneath Špilberk, tour the historic area near the Old Brno Monastery on Mendel Square, and explore the eastern part of the city known for its industrial architecture and the scenic surroundings of the Svratka River, including the charming Stone Colony. If the weather is nice, you can even venture a bit further out of town along the trails around the Brno Dam leading to Veveří Castle.
Open-air gallery in Hořice
Not many towns present such a display of sculptures as Hořice in Podkrkonoší. During the latter half of the 19th century, over sixty sandstone quarries operated near Hořice, and here the Vocational School of Stone Sculpture was founded, being the only one of its kind in Central Europe at that time. The stone from Hořice is still utilized in the restoration of many Czech cultural monuments, including the stunning St. Vitus Cathedral at Prague Castle.
You’ll find easy walking trails in the sculpture park, featuring works from international sculpture symposiums, making your way to Gothard hill, where you will pass the St. Joseph’s quarry showcasing more artifacts, eventually reaching Hořický chlum hill with additional sandstone quarries. At the top of the tower, you can find the Masaryk Tower of Independence, complete with an observatory dome and a museum exhibition (which is closed during winter months).
Mikulov – not only winter tours with mulled wine
