Slezkoostrava Castle Beckons: Explore the Timeless Nativity Scene Exhibition

This Year, Silesian Ostrava Castle is a Key Spot for Christmas Spirit in Ostrava

BethlehemA well-known symbol of Christmas is the nativity scene, which illustrates the birth of Jesus Christ and has been portrayed by many different artists. In the Gallery of Silesian Ostrava Castle, you have the chance to view numerous historical and contemporary nativity scenes crafted by both professional and amateur artists, all available until 4 January 2026. The enchanting Christmas atmosphere is made even more special by lovely carols and handmade Christmas decorations. This year’s exhibition features a wide array of unique nativity scenes from various artists, both well-known and budding talents.

This year’s main focus is on the cribs created by Vojtěch Kubasta, a famous Czech illustrator and artist whose three-dimensional paper cribs have delighted generations of children and adults all over the world. His artwork, rich in detail, vibrant colors, and light-hearted humor, has the ability to transport visitors to the magical world of Bethlehem Night. The exhibition in Ostrava showcases not only the original cribs created by Kubasta, but also large-sized reproductions of his pieces, bringing the poetic essence of his work to life “in true size“.
