Žižkov Gears Up for an Unforgettable Shrovetide Celebration

The fun-filled weekend of Žižkov Shrovetide is set for 7 February 2026 and will be hosted at various locations around the area. You can expect an exciting carnival parade along with a variety of entertainment for families and individuals of all ages, including theater performances, live music, crafts, and delicious carnival food. An array of drinks will be available, and attendees are encouraged to join in on the festivities by wearing costumes.
The carnival parade featuring masked participants will kick off at 4 p.m. at Jiřího z Poděbrad Square. Participants will start gathering at 3 p.m., accompanied by the Lovesong Orchestra. The parade will follow a route through Lucemburská, Bořivojova, Ondříčkova, Lupáčova, Havlíčkovo náměstí, Štítného and Husinecká streets, eventually reaching Radost Park. At approximately 4:45 p.m., there will be a ceremonial passing of the key to Žižkov at Prague 3 City Hall, marking a symbolic takeover of the district. The parade is expected to arrive in Radost Park shortly before 5 p.m. Once the parade concludes at Radost Park (which is near the Viktoria Žižkov stadium), attendees can enjoy a final performance by Vosa Theatre and the announcement of the most impressive masks. The event will wrap up with a concert by the band Trombenik, along with the traditional burial of the bass.
