Dětenice Comes Alive in Winter: Let a Witch Lead You on a Journey Through the Middle Ages
The Dětenice Castle Resort is situated in the beautiful Bohemian Paradise, which is conveniently just 65 kilometers away from Prague. Even in January, visitors can explore the Baroque castle and its brewery or participate in the Medieval Experience program. This unique program allows you to savor Czech delicacies in the famous Medieval Tavern, which holds the distinction of being the first of its kind worldwide.
As you tour Dětenice Castle, you will have the chance to admire fourteen fully furnished rooms and artistic wall paintings, as well as exquisite Baroque and Rococo plasterwork. On Saturdays, children can look forward to a fun tour of the castle led by a local witch, who will share entertaining stories about the castle’s history. On Sundays, families can take tours guided by a magical fairy-tale character. Both of these tours are available every odd hour from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Brewery tours, including tastings of Dětenice beer, are offered daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., occurring every hour on the hour.
During your family outing to Dětenice, you can enjoy both snacks and meals in the medieval tavern. Additionally, many find that both men and women alike enjoy the local beer brewed on-site. The medieval program, known as “the Middle Ages up close,” takes place every day throughout the year from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. A talented fakir presents amazing tricks with a snake, while a stunning fire show will leave you amazed.
