Discover the beauty of the Sloupsko-šošůvské caves in February by the bright light of flashlights

This cave is located on the southern edge of the town of Sloup, which lies in the Sloupsko Valley (at the beginning of Suchý žleb). These caves belong to the Amatérské caves system, which is the longest cave system in the Czech Republic. The Sloupsko-šošůvské caves are a large complex of single-room domes, corridors and huge underground chasms, which are formed on two different levels. The area known as Eliščina jeskyně (Eliška’s Cave) has excellent acoustics and is therefore sometimes used for chamber music concerts. During the winter season (this year until 28 February), it is possible to view selected parts of the Sloupsko-šošůvské Caves at a pleasant temperature of 8 °C.
A guided tour of part of the Šošůvská Cave by torchlight (winter circuit) or a three-hour adrenaline-filled tour of the lower part of the cave, In the Footsteps of Nagel, are available. Torchlight tours are available every day except Monday, with cave entries scheduled for 10:00, 12:00 and 13:00. For the three-hour tour In the Footsteps of Nagel, advance booking for a minimum of four people is recommended.
The torchlight tour leads around the Kolmá propast (Vertical Abyss) to the areas discovered by Professor Karel Absolon in 1900. The jewel of these parts and the entire Sloupsko-šošůvské caves is Nagel’s Abyss. This abyss was discovered in the lower floors as early as 1748 by mathematician J. A. Nagel. Today, it is accessible via two bridges. Admission to the Winter Route to the caves is CZK 250 (reduced admission for seniors and students is CZK 210, for children CZK 120 and family admission CZK 700), while the adventure route to Nagel costs CZK 1,500.
