Discover Třeboň Castle and the Schwarzenberg Tomb at the turn of winter and spring

Winter tours are once again being offered at Třeboň Castle in South Bohemia this year. During February, the castle is open from Wednesday to Friday, with tours starting at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. From March 2026, fans of beautiful architecture and history will also be able to visit the castle’s interiors on Saturdays and Sundays. In March, tours will take place at 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Please note that the castle will be completely closed on Sunday, 1 March 2026, for operational reasons.
During the winter months, the second tour route, the Schwarzenberg Private Apartments, remains open. On this tour, you will learn more about the last owners of the Třeboň estate, the Schwarzenberg noble family, and see the private rooms where they spent time together in the last century.
The Prince’s Salon is furnished in the style of the fashion trends of the second half of the 19th century, with wooden inlaid wall panelling. The original tiled stove from the end of the 16th century features patterns of living and dead heads, symbolising death and the limited duration of human life. The study belonged to Prince Adolf Josef, whose portrait adorns the wall above the desk. On the desk, you can see everyday items such as a writing set, a short knife, and various souvenirs. In the prince’s bedroom, there are blue and white plates with winter motifs on the walls. The princess’s salon served as a representative space for social events. It is decorated with paintings from individual Schwarzenberg estates in Bohemia, Moravia and Austria. Dr. Adolf’s exotic room is a reminder that in 1933, Dr. Adolf and his wife Hilda bought the M’pala farm and safari near Nairobi in Kenya. They brought back weapons, tools and cushions from the African tribes of the Wa-arush and Masai. In the dining room, you can admire a beautiful Venetian chandelier made of coloured glass. Admission to the castle for adults is CZK 220.
The Schwarzenberg tomb is also open
The Schwarzenberg tomb is open to the public every Thursday in February from 2 p.m. From March, the tomb will also be open on Fridays and Saturdays at two different times, from 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.
The tour begins with an introduction to the history of the Schwarzenberg family and the construction of the tomb. During the second part of the tour, you will learn more about important figures from this family. The guide will take you to the crypt itself, where the remains of the most important members of the noble family, who owned extensive estates in southern Bohemia from the 18th century, lie. Admission to the tomb is CZK 170, reduced admission (for seniors, young people and people with disabilities) is CZK 120, and children aged 6 to 18 pay CZK 70.
