Unveil the Timeless Charm of Spring Blooms at Seasonal Exhibitions

Tropical paradise in Lednice
If you’re nearby in South Moravia, make sure to visit the castle greenhouse in Lednice during March. This beautiful structure was built in 1848 and stands out as a unique piece of European architecture. Inside, you can see over 250 different exotic plants, including palm trees whose tops almost touch the ceiling. When you visit, you will see stunning orchids and coffee trees blooming, as well as the Chinese plant Aglaia odorata, which is used to add flavor to teas. The castle grounds, once home to the Liechtenstein family, feature a vast park adorned with various monuments. Around a million visitors come here each year, and there’s no admission fee. The place is especially beautiful during the early spring.
The beauty of orchids in the Troja Botanical Garden
Another excellent outing is the Prague Botanical Garden in Troja, where there’s a traditional orchid exhibition in Fata Morgana happening from 27 February to 15 March 2026. The Fata Morgana greenhouse will once again be filled with tropical flowers, showcasing the exciting journeys of explorers. This year, the focus is on the great overseas expeditions that led to the discovery and transport of new orchid species to Europe. You can admire nearly 100 types of native orchids, enhanced by displays designed to evoke the spirit of adventurous journeys. Additionally, there will be a sale of orchids and other interesting plants in the greenhouse space (under Fata Morgana). Starting on 2 April, you can also enjoy watching tropical butterflies hatching from their cocoons. The exhibition is particularly famous for featuring birdwing butterflies—these are the largest daytime butterflies in the world. Visitors can see butterflies in all sorts of colors and shapes until 17 May 2026.
Early Spring at Prague Castle
The Royal Garden at Prague Castle will feature from 26 February to 8 March 2026 the popular exhibition of flowers and art, Early Spring – Garden of Small Gestures. This exhibition highlights the works of younger artists. This year’s theme is inspired by the book Modern Nature by British artist and filmmaker Derek Jarman. His exhibit reflects his efforts to create a garden at a fisherman’s cottage in the challenging environment near the nuclear power plant Dungeness, symbolizing perseverance and hope. Aside from impressive art installations made from unique materials, you will be enchanted by the vibrant colors and delightful scents of spring flowers such as bluebells, daffodils, hyacinths, starflowers, and many more. You’ll also find various seeds and plants available for growing in your own gardens. This exhibition is held with the support of Eva Pavlová, the President’s wife.
Rájecké camellias
The largest collection of camellias in the Czech Republic is currently blooming at the castle in Rájec nad Svitavou! From Friday 76 March to Sunday 15 March 2026, the interiors of the castle will showcase vibrant flowering camellia bushes, along with arrangements of cut flowers. The exhibition is titled “Camellias in the Age of Industrialists.” This year, the displayed works reflect the industrial era associated with the noble family of Salm-Reifferscheidt-Raitz, the former owners of the castle.
The exhibition is included in the basic tour II. Visitors should note that on Saturdays and Sundays, card payments are not accepted at the castle ticket office—only cash is accepted! During the exhibition, guests can also explore the castle greenhouses and the castle garden center, where camellias and other spring flowers will be available for purchase.
Amaryllis in Třeboň
Each spring, Třeboň Castle welcomes the arrival of amaryllis, also referred to as amaryllis. This year, these stunning indoor bulbs will be displayed from 21 March to 6 April 2026. Amaryllis flowers are known for their beauty and simplicity, thriving easily as indoor plants. Under the right conditions, they can become perennial houseplants, producing flowers in various lovely colors, including white, red, pink, fiery red, and burgundy. It’s safe to say that their beauty is so striking that some visitors might even mistake them for artificial blooms. It’s also noteworthy that amaryllis flowers can last up to three weeks in a vase.
