Snowdrops, Primroses, Talovines, and Crocuses

Violka PrůhoniceTake a delightful walk through Průhonice Park, where you can appreciate the lovely little plants that are currently blossoming. The first signs of spring are already out in full display – with snowdrops, snowflakes, crocuses, primroses, and violets. Besides these beauties, you can also admire witch hazel, forsythia, lycoris, Abkhazian cyclamen, talovines, liverworts, navelwort, lungworts, devětsily, and hellebore. Among the trees, dogwood starts to blossom.

You can also spot conifers, which don’t get much attention during the year: cypresses, Douglas firs, yews, firs, hemlocks, dawn redwoods, larches, sequoias, spruces, yews, and of course, exotic species of pine trees flourishing in Průhonice Park.

Don’t miss the chance to visit the Průhonice Botanical Garden to see beautiful snowdrops!

snowdropThe first weekend of March, specifically on 7 and 8 March 2026 , is dedicated to snowdrops! On these special days, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the botanists in Průhonice invite you to join their traditional exhibition showcasing snowdrops and other small spring bulbs. This exhibition will also feature the sale of plants and related literature. An informative curator’s tour is scheduled for 10:00. You can enter the event through Průhonice Park or via the Botanical Garden turnstile at the end of Dobřejovická Street. Entry to the “snowdrops” exhibition is free with your park admission ticket or an annual pass.

Průhonice Park was established in 1885 by Count Arnošt Emanuel Silva-Tarouca. Here, in addition to a diverse forest with exotic trees, you will find open meadows and the expansive Alpinum, which is built on rocky terrains above the Botič River. The park boasts 40 kilometers of well-maintained paths for you to explore, situated at an elevation of 280-342 meters.

Admission to Průhonice Park varies depending on the season: during the peak season (from 1 April to 31 October), an adult ticket is priced at CZK 160, a reduced ticket is CZK 110, and a family ticket costs CZK 430. In the off-season (from 1 November to 31 March), the prices decrease (CZK 120 for adults). Children under the age of 6 can enter for free. The park is open every day from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
