Lány will celebrate Masaryk's birthday again this year with a Day with T. G. M.

As part of T. G. Masaryk Day, which this year marks the 176th birthday of the first president of Czechoslovakia, theLány Museum will offer a special programme. Throughout the day, you can meet gendarmes from the First Republic, soldiers, ladies in historical costumes, and even T. G. Masaryk himself.

For the youngest visitors, there will be a special programme from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and interactive tours at the nearby Alice G. Masaryková and ČČK Museum in Lány.

Highlights of the programme in Lány:

• • 1 p.m.: Commemorative ceremony at the equestrian statue of T. G. Masaryk in front of the museum, featuring a performance by the Chorus Laneum choir.

• • 1:30 p.m.: Grand opening of the TGM exhibition on the web. This exhibition was prepared by the Masaryk Institute, the Archives of the Czech Academy of Sciences and the Community Centre of the Czech Academy of Sciences in cooperation with the T. G. Masaryk Museum in Lány.

• • 4:00 p.m.: A stylish musical programme performed by the Jazzové Perutě 80 band will conclude the festive day.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Bechnerův statek Restaurant and the Narpa Restaurant will offer Masaryk’s menu, i.e. T. G. Masaryk’s favourite dishes. The presidential lounge at Stochov railway station will be open from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and the Lány Castle Park will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For active visitors, traditional walks are prepared:

The Czech Tourist Club is organising a star-shaped walk called “To Lány for a Day with T. G. M.” as part of the event. 

The starts are planned from the following locations:

• • Nové Strašecí (ČD): 8:00–10:30 a.m. (11 and 18 km routes)

• • Stochov (ČD): 8:00–11:00 (4 and 8 km routes)

• • Lány (T. G. M. Museum): 9:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m. (2.5 and 5 km routes)
