Mendel Day highlights the importance of genetics in Brno

This year, Mendel Day will take place on 8 March 2026, and you have the opportunity to join in. The Moravian Museum invites everyone to Brno for a screening of the 2010 documentary “Johann Gregor Mendel – A Constant Challenge,” followed by a guided walk. The walk will take you to places associated with the life of Gregor Mendel and introduce you to various aspects of his life. Participants will meet at the Mendelianum exhibition at 2 p.m., and the city tour will last approximately two hours.

The Mendelianum Centre, located in the authentic premises of the Mendel Scientific Society, creates a space for open communication and connection for all those interested in using Mendel’s unique ideas as inspiration for self-education and further development of knowledge. Within this space, experts share their valuable knowledge and, together with teachers, pass on interesting, historically based information about his life and work, and share how these insights are reflected in contemporary science with a new generation of researchers in their countries.
