This Weekend’s Grand Finale at Špičák: Join the Exciting Ride Across the Puddle

On Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Šumava Špičák Ski Resort, there will be a very exciting event called Driving Through a Puddle. This will be the 18th time this fun competition takes place, kicking off at 3:30 p.m. near the U Sekyrek kiosk, located at the end of ski slope number 2 U Zalomeného. The event will be presented by actress Kateřina Bláhová and Karel Kašák.
To win, you must stay dry! This is the main rule of the Driving Through the Puddle competition. Contestants will need to cross a pool that is 20 meters long and about 1 meter deep, using skis, snowboards, skibobs, scooters, surfboards, or really any non-motorized device. Only those who can make it all the way across the water to the safety of solid ground will be declared the true winners. With each attempt, the distance to start is shortened, clearly showing that only the winner will get to leave this event completely dry. A traditional finale for the winter season at Špičák will feature a knockout race, where it’s not about having the slowest time but rather about taking a chilly dip in the icy water of a mountain stream.
This year’s edition will also start at 3:30 p.m., with registration available from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. directly at the puddle. Participants must be at least 15 years old to join. There are no fees for either participants or spectators. The puddle will be set up at the end of ski slope number 2 U Zalomeného, not far from the cable car (near the judges’ tower), and it will be prepared starting Friday, March 6. By Saturday afternoon, on March 7, it will be filled to the brim with water. Approximately fifty participants will try to glide across the surface or take a leap into a genuine mountain bath. Registration is only allowed on site from around 2:30 p.m. until the event starts, and spots for participants are limited. The organizers encourage everyone to sign up early because there is a cap on participants for this classic event, especially since everything needs to be done while there is still daylight. First come, first served. Join in for a fun time, support the competitors, or even become this year’s King or Queen of Louže!
