The Blik Blik Festival of Light will once again bring Pilsen to life!

The Blik Blik light festival has been held since 2015 and has gained popularity among people in Pilsen and visitors from various parts of our country since its inception. This year’s edition promises to be an amazing festival of light and art, taking place in public spaces. For the first time in its history, the festival will last three days and will run from 19 to 21 March 2026. All outdoor installations are free of charge, while indoor installations require a fee (visiting six installations in one day costs CZK 250, a three-day ticket costs CZK 700, and children under 18 pay only CZK 50, but must be accompanied by an adult over 18).
This year’s festival route connects the areas of Roudná, Náměstí Republiky and the Depo2015 complex. These squares are the centre of the festival. You can enjoy a total of 17 light installations by artists not only from the Czech Republic, but also from more distant parts of the world.
A light sculpture park will be created on Náměstí Republiky. The Rusty Flowers cycle takes on a new dimension here in Pilsen thanks to the emphasis on scenic lighting.
Many of the installations will also be interactive. For example, Flux by Polish artist Ksawery Komputery changes according to the movements of those who visit the festival. This installation is six metres high and has a diameter of thirteen metres. It uses 4,800 metres of LED strips and has 144,000 pixels running at a speed of 100 frames per second. Four high-speed cameras and eight-channel surround sound transform movement and data into light and reveal the algorithms that influence our online interactions in real time. The Demons projection responds to the throwing of a foam ball, and you can help with the Cerrynt installation using your smartphones.
Video mapping at Blik Blik 2026
You will also be able to see three video mappings along the festival route. Once again, you can look forward to breathtaking projections at the West Bohemian Museum. Belgian artists almost magically combine light and shadow, day and night in this year’s festival theme in their work Symbiosis. The façade of the Slovany Town Hall will also shine, where recent graduates of the video mapping school, who acquired valuable skills under the guidance of Italian professor Luca Pulvirenti, will present their creations. They worked with him during a three-day workshop and will then have the opportunity to publicly show their final projects on the façade of the Depo2015 cultural and creative zone.
Another video mapping pays tribute to the 100th anniversary of the Pilsen Zoo. This spectacular artistic projection may take us into the near future and perhaps reveal a secret that is not normally visible. The video mapping was created by Julie Tampierová and can be seen in the courtyard of Depo2015.
Fantastic light installations in interiors
In addition to outdoor installations and projections, which are free of charge, Blik Blik will also offer light artworks inside buildings, for which you must purchase tickets. You can look forward to various magnificent objects in several buildings.
The courtyard of the Pilsen City Hall will offer an immersive projection experience. The façade will be transformed into a space where different layers of time, memories and current events intermingle. The projection includes rare archival materials that disintegrate and reassemble in a dynamic flow of images.
Within the monastery walls of the Museum of Church Art in Františkánská Street, two objects by artists have been prepared. A meditative experience is provided by a uranium glass sculpture called Uranium, which was created especially for the former paradise courtyard. In the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, you can enjoy a breathtaking light installation called Glasstides, which encourages quiet contemplation.
The festival strives to make maximum use of ecological light and projection sources. On the contrary, several dozen street lamps will be turned off during the festival.
