Easter in South Bohemia for families with children

jihočešiVisitors to Český Krumlov will experience an Easter straight out of a fairy tale. Between 2 and 6 April 2026, traditional Easter markets will take place on the picturesque Svornosti Square. The event will feature stalls offering handmade goods and spring decorations. As part of the programme, visitors can also enjoy craft workshops, concerts at St Vitus’s Church and interesting guided tours of the town.

On Holy Saturday, a traditional Easter market will take place in the square in Horní Planá, where a varied programme is being prepared. You can enjoy the traditional Easter rattling in České Budějovice between 2 and 5 April.

jihočešiFamilies with children will be able to take part in Easter events, for example in Hluboká nad Vltavou. From 3 April to 3 May, a trail featuring giant Easter eggs with unique designs will be on display here. This fun outdoor game, complemented by an Easter market, will create a festive atmosphere for young and old alike. Furthermore, from 3 to 5 April 2026, the local zoo will offer a packed programme full of art workshops, music, an Easter fair and guided talks, during which visitors will learn lots of interesting facts about the animals. Visitors to the Fairytale Forge in Selibov also have plenty to look forward to; children can try their hand at a theatre performance, weave their own Easter whip, or create spring decorations.

If that’s still not enough for you, head to the Lipno area. Here, on 4 April, Fox the fox will lead an adventure on the Easter trail. At the Easter workshop at Porto 1560 in Český Krumlov, you can try your hand at making Easter eggs or prints.

Spring flavours of South Bohemia and cultural experiences

A special Easter menu will be available, offering traditional dishes and Easter beers. The Prachatice Brewery will also present culinary experiences, serving dishes linked to Easter traditions throughout the holidays – from lamb to sweet treats.

Those who love culture and history will find plenty to enjoy at the South Bohemian Museum in České Budějovice. An Easter exhibition is planned here, featuring demonstrations of traditional crafts and interactive workshops for children. The atmosphere of the Easter holidays can also be savoured at the legendary Seidel Photo Studio Museum in Český Krumlov, which offers visitors not only themed tours but also the chance to have their photo taken with old-fashioned Easter props. The spiritual dimension of the holidays is brought to life, for example, at Vyšebrod Monastery, where during Holy Week masses, processions and adoration take place in the silence of the monastery’s magnificent halls.
